Has anyone ever requested the "best seats" on Flight of Passage?

Why do see it as taking advantage?
It starts a chain reaction.

On pirates, one family asks “can I have The front row?” And the family behind them asks the same. And the possibly the family behind THEM. It gets frustrating and pointless. You’ll have a good time no matter where you sit on hardly any attraction, except for maybe blind spots at live stage shows.

People who request specific seats on attractions were some of my biggest pet peeves as a cast member. Like. Just enjoy the ride. It doesn’t seem like a big deal. But when you’re like the 7th group of the day to ask for special arrangements, it’s the cast members duty to have to run and call back “is there a party of __” before the ride boards. It’s stressful. God.

Just get on. 😂
This is what I suspected. I think I'll stick with what I get!

I regularly ask for specific seats on certain attractions; no-one has ever followed suit.

It doesn’t mean cast members won’t think of you as a self entitled constant returner they have to put up with.

It’s annoying. Plain and simple. But they’ll do it. Because Disney Magic or whatever. Doesn’t mean all cast members will be happy about it. Especially attractions that build up a line fast. It’s annoying, sometimes confusing, and like I said, sometimes it starts a chain reaction. Those are the WORST.

But no. Cast members won’t typically tell you “no” a majority of the time. But that doesn’t make it right.

I don’t really understand what the “constant returner” reference means here. I wish I could visit the parks often enough to qualify as one.

I always ask nicely and make clear that I’m happy to wait until the next round of loading. I didn’t realise it was considered such a selfish and annoying thing to do, and no CM has ever betrayed the slightest hint of annoyance.

This is the problem. Things WDW used to do/provide/allow as nice little gestures with no expectation turned into demands by too many guests, so they started making rules against certain activities - or started charging for them - due to a huge influx of people doing/requesting things after reading about it on the internet.
I doubt most people are willing to wait for the special seats, I know DL still allows you to ride up front in the monorail but unless you are just lucky you almost alwyas have to wait... but I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 group waiting for it. I suspect most people jsut don't see the benefit of the special seat being worth the extra time waiting.

Nope! However unlike Soarin, I have not noticed a big difference in warping from one seat to the next. So it never occurred to me to ask. I still won't likely in the future either because it just wasn't noticeable to me.

I don't necessarily have an issue with people doing it but there are many times where we would have been in a front row but the people in front of us ask to wait for it and instead of waiting even longer I just suck it up and go all the way to the back. So, yes annoying but not end of the world.

Not true on some rides. If you have a child below a certain height, there are seats on rides like Test Track and Radiator Springs that provide no view except for the backs of others. Those are the rides it really makes sense for people to request different seats. Rides like Pirates, yeah most of the time there aren't truly bad seats because looking to the side is a large part of it, but when the action is in front and the ride designers put in seats that stick up too for children then it is a problem.

I do enjoy the rides but, some rides ARE more enjoyable, and thrilling when seated in the front seat. I always ask the CM handling the seating spots prior to boarding so all I do is step back and the next guest in line boards in my place. Ive never heard a CM have to ask for another party of_ . If you found it so stressful accommodating a guest, I'm glad you moved on from being a CM.

At the risk of angering some CM's, there are some rides that are totally different from different parts of the ride. Most roller coasters come to mind - the back seat is far better than any other seat. Soarin' is a much better ride in the middle top row, and I never mind waiting a cycle to get the seat I want. If this ticks off CM's, I'm sorry, but (and I don't mean to sound entitled) with all I'm spending in both money and effort to do a WDW vacation, I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure it's the best.

I’ve never requested a certain seat or row on any ride, but I don’t see how asking nicely and waiting for the next ride is “entitlement.” Now if the guest has attitude going into it, that’s different. But as with anything, I’m sure some CMs hate it and some CMs don’t care or are even happy to help someone’s day a little more magical. Customer service jobs are hard, and all jobs at a park are customer service jobs.

I'll be going to Pandora with my friend (his first time) next week and would love to get a seat right in the center because when I rode it the first time I was off to the side and though still incredible, the warped, off-center view was a little distracting.

Is it worth asking for the best seat and would they even oblige me?

Also, we'll be in line without a fastpass tuesday morning at rope drop. Do they send the first riders through the fastpass line because I really want my friend to see the lab and avatar body.
From various rope drop experiences...if I was there an hour before opening at turnstiles I was in the first 50 people going in to FOP and skipped the lab...Was about 1/2 hour/15 minutes before opening last trip and the line had already been going back to the bridge to Africa and went through the lab.

Yes
Most of my flights (~20) have been on the bottom deck as my wife is in an ECV. I did, however, get on the top deck left-hand side this last Sunday (22 steps up to decontamination, 4 flights of stairs down at exit) and did notice more of the top of the screen than from the bottom. A few different details, but nothing radical.

Here's something that you'll never get out of your head: Look at the middle of the woodsprite and don't tell me it doesn't look like a blue Lotso.

Give me an example of what they've started to charge for.

Requesting seats and rows is not one of them. The rule is they will honor all requests when possible and cast members are trained to discourage the guest making a request when demand is high. For example on Space Mountain if they have many people waiting for the front they'll let you know that and in most cases the guest making the request will change their mind.

However, from 25 years of experience, requests are far less common in Florida versus California, and in all cases I've rarely seen a request denied, the most common reason so is the fact that it is after the park has closed. For example, if you're in line for a ride after the park closes they generally will not honor requests for things like rows and seats! The goal at that point is to maximize attraction capacity and get through the remaining queue.

The fact is most guests don't make seating and row requests for rides.

It's your job to handle the requests. That is YOUR ROLE!
