Universal will be getting some of my money now. I guess the is one of the "lose"s from Disney's Lose/Lose situation w/HP. Even if they landed HP would it really "help" them much? I think it will be a challenge for Disney to step it up in the next round though too.

Just want to say that I think this news is extremely exciting for one reason, and one reason only: Disney now has competition in Orlando again.

This is not only good news for fans of Universal Studios, but even better news for us Disney fans.

I have always been impressed by IOA's themeing, but it alone hasn't inspired me to visit frequently. Two or three times in ten years, while Disney gets me every year. My wife gets motion sick, and so can't do most of their attractions. Disney has more inclusive stuff, and more interesting things to do. I have very high hopes for this at Universal. If they balance the wild stuff with smaller points of interest, then it certainly will draw me back as a more frequent guest. And I anticipate Disney's response will take my breath away. Whatever it is.

To be honest, I'm really surprised that JK Rowling has "settled" on simply letting Universal, re-theme an already existing area. It seems like much too strong a series/franchise to simply get a "land" devoted to it.......perhaps this will just be a testing ground, with a full-fledged park coming later if this proves to be profitable.

What other Potter attractions will they be including, other than a re-tooled Dueling Dragons?.....I can see it becoming Quidditch themed.......cars remade to look like giant brooms.

Universal has done a good job with theming at IOA up to this point and they also are willing to give creative ok to someone else (IE Seuss Landing) so I think it's a good choice. As far as it's own park, the Harry Potter franchise has not yet withstood the test of time. Yes it's big now, as books and movies are still coming out, but what about in 10 years when it's all over? It's a lot better to have a land then a park at that point.

I keep looking for those magic words, "Dark Ride". Without that, they can theme the thing as spectaularly as possible and I'd spit at it, LOL.

No bloody simulator garbage, I want a d - a - r - k r - i - d - e.

hmmm....the concept art pretty much shows us nothing. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think this is great for the Universal Parks. And, I'm actually glad to see Harry Potter NOT coming to Disney.

Well its not just re-themeing the Lost Continent, the park is acutally expanding, thye are knocking down some of the staff buildings behind LC and it will not, just by the looks of the concept art, look like the lost continent at all!

And about the Quidditch re-themeing of DD, GOD i hope not, that would be the worst thing USF could do! just keep it as the fire and ice dragons, i know the do not appear in the HP universe but to me i shall always see them as the Fire and Ice Dragons i know and love!

As i have said above it does show quite a bit in the fact tthat on the overviewish image you can see the Dueling Dragons and the Flying Unicorn, so it gives you a good view at genrally how it might be layed out.

Also i think that Harry potter in its own right is a little bit too gritty and features death to much to be in a disney park in my opinion.

hmm "a Theme Park within a Theme Park". I think a lot of us theme park and HP fans have very high expectations about the WWoHP. My pessimistic side says we'll get buildings and landscaping as cool as Suess Landings but I have a feeling we'll wind up with just one completely new attraction, a HP dark ride. That's a lot of hype for one new attraction and the public won't be fooled. I hope I'm wrong about this! Can't wait for more details to be released!!

What's in Disney's future???

Two Words....
BEASTLY KINGDOM
Would it not be the most opportune time to bring out the old blueprints of a highly anticipated land in AK????:sohappy:
If not the BK, what would you all like to see?

I think they'll go all Pirates with Tom Sawyer Island.....

I do agree that turning Tom Sawyer Island into Pelegosto (if you didn't know, that is the island from Dead Man's Chest) would be a great idea. Question is, does an island that adds a bit to the POTC legacy compare to a Harry Potter world? I still think it takes a bit more for Disney to draw the crowds away from HP and back to their parks instead.

Ummmm... I think you are confused... MK draws 4 to 1 over Uni.
Disney will not need something to "draw the crowds back".
HP may have some effect on people going to Uni for a day or an extra day, but your week vacation is still at Disney.
