Harry Potter at IOA?

Who knows. I'm still waiting to hear more about the "solid" rumors about the Simpsons/Transformers/Fast and the Furious replacement for Back to the Future, the new Jurassic Park pterynadon flying coaster/Jeep vehicle ride, the new Van Helsing robocoaster ride and/or the replacement/refurb of ET, etc ;)

The Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings thing is like Beastly Kingdom in that the rumors will never die until something is built. I imagine either Disney or Universal could open a ride based on one of these franchises sometime given all the rumors about them, but when or if it will actually happen is a guess to me.

The Lost Continent at IOA is the only original-based island (in that it isn't obviously based off a previous film, book or comic), so I imagine it could be a target for a film/movie overlay. The look and design of the island currently doesn't feel very Harry Potter-like to me, but I guess anything is possible given it has some wizard and dragon themeing.

Ah Screamscape...

Well, I'll forget about the source for a second and concentrate on the issue at hand.

Harry Potter in a Universal theme park, and the roller-coaster theme park at that...it just doesn't make any sense to me. A Harry Potter ride seems more like a dark-ride kind of thing...

Unless it's like a Quidditch (sp?) roller-coaster...and even then, the target audience wouldn't be able to ride it due to height requirements.

Meh.

I think it's a mistake, if it is true.

Sorry everybody...I couldn't resist starting the thread. :o

Harry Potter threads are still a little fun to read...in a twisted sort of way.

Screamscape is one of my favorite and (IMHO) one of the most reliable "rumor" sites on the net. I think HP would be a great addition to IOA and bring it back from the dead in terms of attendance. Here's hoping. A better and more successful IOA means more stuff at Disney.

IOA is no more of a roller coaster park than the Magic Kingdom is. They have two coasters. They're not Cedar Point. A HP land would fit there just fine, I just don't want them to take away my favorite land to make it happen. To me, the lost continent is the most detailed land they have anywhere and I can just stand around in it and take it all in for a while. If they remove that land to do this I'll be very upset. Personally I'd rather see them put in a new jeep ride for jurassic park and a dark ride attraction in toon lagoon somehow before I'd want to see this done.

As to whether this is true or not. I don't see it happening. Putting in a HP land would bring a lot of new visitors to the park to see this since the property is so popular, however it would take a ton of money to do it right. Universal isn't really making much of a profit right now and since when have they been willing to invest the kind of money this would take to make this happen?

I've been hearing a lot of whispers backstage at Universal about this so I guess its possible. It would be great to see to get Universal Orlando back on the map. Can you imagine all the kids? ahh

Yes, it would be great......

Universal and Harry Potter = shorter lines at WDW (for a while anyway....)

I will say that it could be what the park needs to get more family friendly things in the park. I would just hate to lose the Lost Continent to have it.
