Harry Potter and Rides

Hey everyone newby here.
I have been to Florida twice and looking to go next year again.
I know very little has been released about what will be in the new island but obviously read the rumour etc.
What I am wondering is do you think the new attractions and state of the art rides will have to be toned down so that younger children don't get scared etc? This would be a real shame as I know Disney have done this but I like to see Universals as for the more grown up kids 'i'm 28' lol.
A lot of adults are Harry Potter fans and it would be a real shame if they feel they have to tone down an attraction if it was scaring younger people.

Anyway hoping it will all be ready and open for my trip around June 2010! :)

It should be open by Summer 2010, the target is end 2009/early 2010.
As far as new attractions, there are plenty of rumors but no real facts.
Much of WWoHP is just going to be former pieces of the Lost Continent including the possibly renamed and rethemed Dueling dragons.

People 'in the know' on this board seem to think WWoHP might be opening around the end of 2010 due to delays! I think this year would be very optimistic!

Well, that's the issue...at Universal their own signs say late 2009.
No one really knows much of anything. Those that know aren't saying anything.

In December I encountered a family on a Disney bus talking about how Disney should do a HP park. It was crazy. They were raising their voices because one daughter said that it wouldn't make money and the other said it was. It was funny to watch until I broke their bubble and told them about Universal.

I think it'll open in phases, with the actual land and shops openning in late 2009, along with the retheming of Dragons. Then Hogwarts will open spring 2010, then the big unknown attraction fall/winter 2010.

Ummmm.. The "big unknown attraction" IS Hogwarts. The castle is a 30' facade that sits on top of the ride's show building. And it's hardly that unknown - it's one of the worst kept secrets in the amusement industry. It's been widely known to be the KUKA Robocoaster dark ride for a couple of years now, though that fact has not *actually* been announced. The ride system has been purchased and paid for in full.

So CSM do u care to take a guess to when it will be open in 2010.
:)

You don't think I want to throw away my entire reputation on something as laughable as that, do you?

Internally, there's NO idea. I appreciate you having that much faith in me, but I sure as heck don't know either! :)

I very much classify the Potter ride as "when it happens it happens". At least they're smart enough to pull away from a specific date so they don't get accused of another Test Track, though that's exactly what's going to happen. I can tell you original date was Thanksgiving-ish 2009. That is so laughably not going to happen though. I'm told that Summer 2010 is even a stretch.

Worth a try lol.
Well think im going to book for june 2010 anyway then.

Just know that it could go either way, and although that date is pretty far off, there's just as good of a chance that it won't be done as there is that it will be.

If Potterland is *that* important to you, I'd put the trip off as LONG as possible.
