Harambe Nights at Disney's Animal Kingdom this summer

And this is the exact mentality WDW has and ingrained into the WDW fan base. If we are going to do anything over the bare minimum we will charge extra for it. People are coming to expect paying extra now which pays off for TDO. If WDW makes money with it, more power to them.
Other parks including other Disney resorts include extras WITH the price of admission.
You mean like paying an entrance fee and then paying for tickets to ride the attractions?

Wouldn't this be after the park is closed? Why would they make you pay for park admission on top of this? Couldn't it be like with MNSSHP and MVMCP where if you have a ticket, you get into the park for free? Doesn't make sense for AP's though, since you already have park admission.

A show followed by a Street Party with booze on the Streets of Harumbe sounds like a lot of fun though!

Since when have you been able to get into MK for either MNSSHP or MVMCP without a valid park admission? I went to MNSSHP last year and had to use my AP to get into the park and then showed my confirmation of purchasing the event ticket for MNSSHP to the CM to get my wrist band. Since the park is open to ONLY those who have purchased event tickets, why ask for regular park admission? Just have the CMs stand at the turnstiles with their tablets...and hand out the wrist bands there.

That looks pretty good for Dinner and a Show. $134 PP is pretty good compared to NYC prices by me.

Too bad it's double what the other dinner shows ON WDW PROPERTY get. And those at least come with unlimited beer and sangria. Oh, and in NYC you have true Broadway actors, not guys whose biggest gig was a Fringe Festival show (no offense to my numerous Equity friends who have appeared at Fringe).

Just keep spinning, just keep spinning...

Did they recently change the policy? When I went to MVMCP in 2011 I only had a ticket for the party. I did NOT have a valid park admission also.

I went to MNSSHP last year and had to use my AP to get into the park. States on Disney's site for the event that it requires valid park admission. I would agree - if the park closes early those days and only those who have purchased an event ticket are allowed in...then don't ask for valid park admission. And I went after MNSSHP started. A friend said the same about MVMCP last year.

I miss the E-Ride Nights at MK. Now there was money well spent and it wasn't much money per person. Bring those babies back and they could be booked every night in the summer I am sure! Personally, I am tired of the constant upcharges that have suddenly become the norm. I think the disappointment comes from offerings WDW used to offer for no additional charge...later park hours, two nightly parades, fireworks, Fantasmic nightly, etc.,

Now everything seems to be about how much more can we squeeze out of a family on vacation before they hit the highway or the airport. After hour drinking parties seems to be the one idea they have focused on. Maybe stressed out families are more likely to spend money on alcohol on vacation...I don't know. I do know that no matter where I go...I go on a budget....period. When the vacation money is gone we better be home.

It appears they are trying to woo people visiting the parks without children - now that Pleasure Island is gone.
If they can pull off an authentic African (and it is a big continent) show and meal - I would give it a try. Still cheaper than visiting the real Africa.

WDW doesn't advertise the fact--and reserve the right to not do it--but generally people with a party ticket can get in starting around 4 p.m. But you don't need a day ticket to go to the party that night.

I guess that policy for the Christmas Party and Halloween Party has changed? I last attended both several years ago (2008). It used to be for both parties that you're special ticket WAS the admission ticket unless my memory is entirely shot. You could enter the parks at 4:00PM and I never had to have separate admission on top of the party price.

It says appetizers not dinner? Even $134 for a dinner/show at AK is ridiculous. While true its on par with Broadway - at Broadway you are paying for the ticket (and I stand in the line to get half price). With this premium event - you are paying park admission plus the night ticket. Even with my AP - I still would not do it.

And this is absolutely why I have NO INTEREST in getting ripped off by paying for an event like this!! Anyone else remember how much it cost to get into Pleasure Island? Anyone?! For 6-7 hours of entertainment, not 3 and a half. Please Disney, you almost had me excited with the teaser e-mail. Guess I should know better.

Not to mention Florida weather in the summertime REALLY makes me want to dress up and go outside. Really? The hottest time of the year and I'm supposed to pay how much for the privilege?

Too little for way too much $$$. Pass.

Based on this the event at least includes beer, wine and some food before the show

"Each Saturday night, Disney's Animal Kingdom will host a special event including appetizers, beer and wine, along with a new theatrical show in the new Harambe Theater. Afterwards, more food and drink will be on offer at the Harambe Nights Street party."

It's not clear whether the food and drinks on "offer" during the street party is free or for an additional charge.

The other thing that isn't clear is what the show is. If it's nothing more than the free show available during the day it's a bad deal. If it's a new, more elaborate show it could be less of a bad deal. La Nouba tickets go for what $60? $70? for the cheap seats. I guess you could assume $70 for the show/party and $50 for food and drink. Still seems a little steep, but it's WDW so not that surprising.
