Handicapped parking????

This will be my first time traveling to Disney with a handicapped person. My husband has a broken foot. He will likely put off a possible surgery until after our trip to Disney.

My question is about handicapped parking. Do you take a tram from the parking lots? Are the handicapped spots walking distance?

Sometimes it is a further walk to places from handicapped spots than regular spaces. Is it less distance from the handicapped spot to park or regular spot to the tram? He can walk, but frequent breaks are advised, so this is what makes me ask this question.

Thanks

Handicap parking is not tram accessible, well TTC sometimes is but usually not.

In TTC its up front of the lot but you will need to go under the tunel and into TTC,

Epcot its the first 4 rows usually

Studios, its in the bus loop actually with overflow a bit of a walk away sadly

Animal kingdom its next to taxi/ pickup and drop off...

All handicap parkinglots should have a couteousey wheelchair to get to the turnstyle or in TTC's case the store in TTC which will rent wheelchairs, and if you need an ECV you can take the wheelchair to MK and then exchange it out, though the TTC wheelchairs "can" be taken to the other parks, pending you return it to the store or the TTC parking lot at the end of the day.

Yeah, sadly, most times it is more convenient to park in standard parking and take the tram if a wheelchair is not solely needed (a person can walk from the car to the tram and the tram to the Guest Services area). MK has the worst Handicap / AAA Diamond parking situation.

Epcot has the closest to the gate (but you are not as close as the monorail) and MGM is close too.

My mom is handicapped and we used handicapped parking during our trip earlier this month. The TTC parking is pretty far...there is no tram stop for the handicapped parking, but there are courtesy wheelchairs provided for people who need help getting to TTC.

Epcot parking is very close; however, I did not see the courtesy wheelchairs they had at TTC (maybe I just missed them). We did not use a tram, and I am not sure if there is a stop there (it's really close).

DHS parking was the closest we found (maybe we just got the best spots?)...you are literally parked amongst the WDW buses and are steps away from the entrance - very convenient, IMO.

Sorry, we didn't go to AK so I don't know how the parking is there (we were only there a few days, and we usually use WDW transportation so it was new to us to be driving around WDW).

DTD was very disappointing...there is not a designated area in the parking lot for handicapped parking...just a few spots (literally) here and there. For the hassle of not knowing where the handicapped spots were, it was just easier to find a close spot and go in.

Good luck, and have fun on your trip! :)

AK in on par with DHS.
