Slow to the party, but my limited results from the Palm Springs Halloween VillageFest:

Jack Sparrow - 1
Pooh and Tigger - 1
Handmaid - 1 (she's a Disney princess now, right?)

No Star Wars.

After reading this thread, I just realized I should have gone as 'flying Princess Leia'!

I'm sorry, but I think we're really grasping at straws here for backhanded reasons to deem SWL a failure. It's been open all of what... 5 months??

What did you expect? Sidewalks flooded with little Hondos? Do they even make and sell a costume?

We get it.

Yes, it’s new. There better be five kids dressed as Hondo for every kid dressed as a Matterhorn!

Weho Halloween Carnaval Count (at least from what I could discern, the event is a cluster**** of bodies after all):

leia
kylo ren
rey
ewok

I counted one of each. There were a lot of Spider-men, Scoops Ahoy, Pennywise, LA Genies, Super Marios, Joker Phoenixes, Forkies, and Woodies.

So.... I already had to Google the Pennywise a few days ago, but now I just had to Google Image up the following;
Scoops Ahoy (I'm baffled. But cute hat.)
LA Genies (No clue. Is it a typo?)
Forkies (Oh, please.)

Seems kind of nerdy and G rated for West Hollywood on Halloween. Apparently that town is not quite what it used to be?

According to CM's on Micechat, it's still full of gyrating go-go boys with Disneyland managers stuffing dollar bills down their shorts and buying rounds of shots while gossipping about new parades and how much everyone hates Bob Chapek.
But also Forkies? :oops:

I have no clue about the LA Genies I need to look that up as well but Scoops Ahoy is from the popular Netflix show Stranger Things, it's from the newest season, season 3, which came out on the 4th of July this year. It is the ice cream shop in the mall which is the center of the plotline for the new season, and one of the main characters from previous seasons and one new main character work at Scoops Ahoy. Also I am afraid I can't offer much for my list of Halloween costumes seen, all the kids in my neighborhood have grown up and no new families have moved in so we have seen a decline in trick or treaters over the past few years and we only got about 4 trick or treaters so now I have this whole bowl of candy to myself.

IT (the novel) came out in 1986. For some reason this in particular re-establishes your moustache twirling monocled 70-80 year old self. :p

My 60 year old father excitedly took us to see IT.

It's almost Halloween! I just returned from my annual candy gathering errands this morning; big boxes of full-size candy bars, Reese's Peanut Butter cups and Hershey's With Almonds. And for my coveted TP2000 Best Costume Awards, I went to the See's down at the mall and had the nice counter lady put together three little baskets of goodies for me, for the Best Boy/Girl costumes and one for Best Family costume. And yes, I winked at her and she gave me plenty of samples. ;)

My neighborhood is always crawling with kids and I always go all out on the candy, and I am proud to say that my big trees have NEVER been tp'ed, my driveway has never been egged, and my pumpkins never go missing around 2:00am on the morning of November 1st. The idiot doctor several houses down who gives out erasers and magnets always gets his trees tp'ed and/or his pumpkins meet a grisly end in the street.

We've talked before Pandora opened at DAK about how kids have never shown up in blue alien outfits, but I'm going to put a new spin on it this year. I'm going to track how many of the dozens of kids I get at my door are wearing a costume from the Batuu culture/timeline/trilogy/whatever the heck it is they are pretending Star Wars Land is about.

But let's nail down who they have appearing in the small crew of characters they lightly staff Star Wars Land with. Correct me if I've forgotten anyone, but in Star Wars Land currently you can see;

Chewbacca
Stormtroopers
Rey (the young lady with the gauzy linen outfits, right?)
Kylo Ren (the bad guy in all black)

Is that it? Does that one young Black lady with the blue hair who wanders around muttering to herself count as someone? If so, what is her name so I may add it to the list.

I'll keep a little note pad going on the entryway table next to the candy basket and Best Costume awards, and I'll note how many of the dozens and dozens of kids are wearing something based on those Star Wars Land characters noted above.

My hunch is that it's not going to be many, and I'll get more regular Star Wars outfits than the new ones from Batuu. Right?

Regardless of what trilogy you celebrate, Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃
A few days late, but "Villain's Grove" over at DCA was surprisingly popular and gained a lot of positive reception from visitors. Hopefully that idea gets expanded in the future.

It just goes to show, just shine some pretty lights in the face of AP holders and they will think it's the second coming.
