Halloween trip

My wife and I are thinking of going down in late september with the kids to see the halloween decorations at the park.

My 1st question is, are the decorations and festivities worth it? We are planning on going in Nov. 2012 for the xmas stuff and just wanted to know if the halloween stuff is worth it.

2nd question do all the parks do something special for halloween or is it just the magic kingdom?

Thanks for the help......

There is actually not a lot of Halloween decor up... MK has a few autumn theme decor around the park, but that is it... Do I think going this time of year is worth it?? Absolutely!!! Going to MNSSHP alone is worth the trip down! It is by far my favorite event Disney offers... If you plan on going to MNSSHP on 10/31 get the tickets as soon as they go on sale as that evening tends to sell out... I also believe DTD offers trick or treating on Halloween. Fort Wilderness also has a haunted hayride you might look into.

We are planning on going the end of sept. to take advantage of the kids stay and play for free and check out the halloween stuff(if it is up then).

Is it just the magic kingdom though or do the other parks do anything?

It's pretty much just the MK. I have never noticed any special decor in the other parks.

If you are a big fan of Halloween, it is worth it to see MNSSHP. If you are going again in November, just make a short trip in Sept to see the MK.

We went the last week in September this year for the first time. I'm planning on a trip in April 2012 but I would rather go September again. The parade and fireworks are worth the money for the event. We did the rides during the day so we could do trick or treating and the dance parties. We had the best time!

I'm seriously contemplating a solo trip for 9/18 - 9/24 specifically to catch the Halloween decorations and festivities! And twice during my trip it appears MNSSHP will be going on so I would definitely do that event for sure! :sohappy:

You know, before I went in the 'fall'/ Halloween I wouldn't have thought it would be anything special.

But now that I've been, I will absolutely go again! I love the fall decorations at the Magic Kingdom and the crowd levels just can't be beat!

There isn't much in place for Halloween decorations outside of the MNSSHP. They have autumn decorations on the Main Street lamps, and the pumpkin men as well, and the additional statues around the hub. The fancy lights, Halloween specific signage, etc is party only.

The party is highly worth it, but having been down there during the Halloween season 3 times, I can't really recommend going down just to see decorations. They are not even close to the Christmas decorations.

That is what we are planning just a short 4 day trip over a long weekend in Sept.

We are waiting to book for Nov. 2012 to see the xmas decorations. Can't wait.
