They would also need to have Morgan Freeman say the new president's name to tag the end of the roll call
More likely they'd get a new narrator along with a revised script. They tend to do that when we get a new POTUS; James Hall was the narrator during W Bush and Maya Angelou was the narrator during Clinton.

(Personally I nominate Lin-Manuel Miranda for narrator, he's doing a lot of things with Disney right now.)

I wonder if POTUS has a say in who is the narrator?

I don't think so ... but I would imagine that Disney would go to moderate pains to pick a narrator that is agreeable to the new POTUS, recognizable enough to the public, but also not to over shadowing of the show itself. The new POTUS could always refuse to participate with Disney if they didn't approve but that would be pretty bad form. I feel Disney would let them have final say on the narrator and script if it ever really came down to it.

I feel that if Hillary wins, Obama might still have a small speaking part before hers, since he was the first President who wasn't white. Then when it's changed in 2020/2024, both Hillary and Obama will have speaking parts before the current president. Idk, I just think it would be weird for Disney to eliminate both parts considering how historic they are/would be.

If that's the case, I hope not. Between Washington, Obama, Clinton, and the (at the time) current president, that's going to go forever.

I would think they would pick someone who is somewhat associated with the winning party. For example, Morgan Freeman is a bigtime supporter of Hillary Clinton. If Donald Trump were to win, I'm sure Mr. Freeman would be replaced by someone more known for his Republican leanings.

I actually really like this idea, and I think it could be done without ruffling too many feathers. Especially if they kept it relatively brief, and didn't take too much away from the incumbent president.

Any other details? For example, what time frame is it updated? A few months after the inauguration? A Year?

I've also been curious about this. If I remember correctly, on my visit back in July 2001 the last president to be announced was Bill Clinton. Even though George W. Bush had already been in power since January that year, there was no sign of him anywhere.

You know what's funny?
According to the HoP news page, Bush debuted in October 2001 and Obama debuted 'officially' on July 4, 2009. So I'd guess that the next president would debut in the same summer/fall timeframe in 2017.

well...remember the 2000 election results were delayed by a couple months so maybe that is why Bush did not debut until October. I would assume the time frame would be closer to Obama's....maybe..lol

Any chance that Abe could get some TLC when it's down? I don't think the Obama AA looks 100% like the president, but it's better than Lincoln.

When they update I think they go back and "refresh" the departing POTUS so they look more like they did near the end of their term and they also switch them onto a less articulated frame. The more articulated frame gets refurbished into the new POTUS.

They could probably keep one POTUS back with a shorter speech on top of the new POTUS, but they'd still need to keep the show under 25 min so they could keep the cycle to 2 per hour.

I believe they should keep the latest president as having a speech. It's not whether you like the person who is president or not but it's about the respect for office of president. I'm sure if the Hall of Presidents existed hundreds of years ago people would be arguing about the possibility letting Abraham Lincoln give a speech.

If Donlald Trump wins then Kermit the Frog could do the narration. If Hillary Clinton wins then Miss Piggy could do the narration.
