Make HoP Great AgainRemember the line everyone….
No you silly goose!Make HoP Great Again
JK, JK, JK, JK, JK
I highly doubt they are going to put two different Muppet attractions in two different parks now. Which is a good thing because HoP, regardless of administration, deserves to be an attraction. Now that a Muppets overhaul seems to be no more……….Presidential Moments with Mater? He could talk to Lincoln and Ford.
I hope HoP keeps on keeping on.
no you gotta think ergonomically, we can’t build a new animatronic, we need to reuse one about to be decommissioned. Now that a Muppets overhaul seems to be no more……….Presidential Moments with Mater? He could talk to Lincoln and Ford.
I hope HoP keeps on keeping on.
I'm assuming to at least dissuade the idea that Disney is unpatriotic, or playing it down, which might be a factor in them changing the show. I had no idea they did the flag ceremony even during the closure at DL, and I have to also assume here in Orlando. These are nice articles about nice things. But why are they in this thread?
If I’m interpreting this right, Len Testa in a new post that among other muppet-y pitches, the “great moments in history (but just the American Stuff)” pitch is not dead and being developed. Very interesting.I’ll ask Jim. My understanding was Disney+ as the easiest, fastest way to satisfy what the blog says about MV3D.
There are other Muppets concepts, such as Great Moments, being developed.
Yup. I'm the guy who doesn't think attractions should be replaced.Honestly though: it is time has been time for HOP to go for along time. It is somewhat controversial by nature in todays political world. The American Adventure has outclassed it since 1982. If you remember, the ending of the end of the original muppets great moments show basically was a plea to go inside to see HOP. Iago’s infamous “I’ll take a nap in the hall of presidents” line in Under New Management was from 1997. It simply doesn’t connect with people anymore, I’m sorry. It’s a huge theatre space in an overcrowded park that is not pulling it’s weight and hasn’t for years. I’m not saying it shouldn’t be about America, but the show in it’s current form, unfortunate as it is, has run its course with most guests. It’s time.
(it's a less interesting footnote to Mr Lincoln and American Adventure in any cultural consideration of Disney parks)
But he didn’t get it built. HoP being deemed less culturally significant is simply an honest assessment of the attractions place in various aspects of pop culture history. Quite frankly, and I say this as someone whose home resort is WDW, Magic Kingdom is generally of far less cultural and historical interest then Disneyland. That doesn’t go for the whole resort - EPCOT is a tremendously rich topic for study - but it’s certainly true of MK.Hall of Presidents (aka One Nation Under God) was always the intended show. Mr Lincoln was the technological and budgetary compromise. Had Walt been able to get it built for either Disneyland or the World's Fair, he would have.
HoP being seen as not as important or special is another example of how The Magic Kingdom is dismissed by the Disney company itself, and by extension, its fans.
Just rename it MuppetVision 3D: A Salute to All Nations But Mostly America. It might be wishful thinking, but is there any chance that the "way to preserve [Muppet*Vision 3D] for fans to enjoy in the future" could be moving into HoP? Trying not to get too political here, but it feels like the political mood this election season has def shifted, and I'm not sure about HoP's place/use anymore with the American Adventure doing everything SO much better. The only issue I can see is about how to link it with Liberty Square, but I mean, we have Cars coming to Frontierland, so anything's free rein now, right?
