It means that they aren't actually promising to preserve it, they're only promising to talk about preserving it. I think the statement was added as lip service to blunt the edge of the MV3D announcement.I still want to know the purpose or point of their “exploring creative discussions about preservations”. What that says to me is that they aren’t committed to one idea yet and will not be for a long time.
Some interesting tidbits about muppetvision and monsters inc from Jim Hill and Len Testa during the Disney dish today:
I am only the messenger.
- Even as far back as multiple months before d23, muppets to RNRC and monsters to Grand Park has ALWAYS been the plan, and. BOTH were supposed to be at d23 august
- Disney P.R. were the ones who said “lets not do it live because of fears of live streamers recording protest walkouts and calling out Disney”
- After D23, Disney quietly let a group of Imagineers do a study about how much it would cost to put Monsters in Animation Courtyard as an alternative, but it would set the project back a full year due to demolition costs. They want to be fast due to wanting to be ready by Epic's Phase 2
- for muppets RNRC, Jim and Len are expecting a mix of re-recorded Muppets music and famous rock songs
- The last thing they talk about is Imagineering having conversations about bringing back MuppetVision into the Disney Parks and how he hopes it's true. (I was consfused, because despite the official word from Disney, i want to clarify Jim specifically says Bringing back muppetvision into the Disney parks) Len then counters with "well, I know what you know so that's all I'll say". Convo ends there.
I do think the Jim Henson company making a comment gives some hope that it goes somewhere. I’ll eventually be fine with it I guess, it’ll be preserved. And the muppets will stick at Wdw.It means that they aren't actually promising to preserve it, they're only promising to talk about preserving it. I do think at worst it'll pop up on Disney+, so we'll at least have that.
Coo Coo Catchoo?I am the walrus.

For unimportant areas, it's just typical re-use of ƨtɘƨƨɒ.They even re-use the image of the Christmas Shop facade (but mirrored) in various places. Did they give someone a 6-hour turnaround time to make this? So weird:

That being said, replacing the halfway-unfinished-movie-sets-with-visible-warehouses look with completed facades that actually transport guests someplace is already a big aesthetic/thematic step up. And I suspect—in part precisely because the concept art was so hastily done, and thus the design likely isn’t far along—that they’ll think up some other clever thematic elements for what we actually get.
Posters who are dubious of this project have provided copious evidence and explanation backing up their positions. Feel free to do the same. I suggest you start with the many, many Phase 2s Disney has built over the last decades in Florida. Or perhaps you could look at all the expansions that didn't suffer massive cuts during both development and construction. You might also offer some analysis of the impact of the new management team, being sure to address Wall Street's attitude towards theme park capital expenditures.
You almost always ignore my question, but here's a pretty basic one: Why is it a good idea for Disney to remove a high capacity family attraction that receives consistently high guest scores from a park in desperate need of capacity and family attractions?
I think GE is a lot better than the empty cardboard facades taking up space for 9 months a year personally and ROTR is a high quality attraction
That's a good catch and just to compare:
Disney Parks Blog: "..we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future."
Jim Hill: "Bringing back muppetvision into the Disney parks"
First one sounds like a Disney+ special, with some re-usage of the animatronics somewhere else (RnR). The latter sounds like a MV3D re-creation.
@lentesta - do you know if Jim was referring to something more with MV3D or might have been a tad confused with what the blog stated?
First, they are not removing an attraction, it's being redone.
Second, can you point to your source on "high guest scores"? My only reference is Touring Plans that rates MV3D 11th out of 19 attractions right below Beauty and the Beast. (Source) So it's middle of the pack.
Third, what DHS "Phase 2" are you talking about? You don't think this expansion will have a show and a coaster? Just a coaster?

By great moments, do you mean the HOP history show concept? And are there other concepts for the muppets elsewhere at diff parks being developed too?I’ll ask Jim. My understanding was Disney+ as the easiest, fastest way to satisfy what the blog says about MV3D.
There are other Muppets concepts, such as Great Moments, being developed.
Phase 2 is being misconstrued with something being added to more recent iterations of the project.
The play area in Tropical Americas is not a phase 2. Nor is this show. But I very much buy into it just being recently added in. Which actually does not correlate to a part of the project not happening, at all. It's actually more likely to happen, because it's the most recent plan.
The whole fact we need hundreds of posts on denialism to make dug in talking points irks me. There are far more high level conversations to be having than "it's fake/not happening". This current exec period actually has a weird track record of following through and seemingly revising and attempting to plus its current projects. Things like Country Bear, Bugs, Mermaid are exactly the type of project this (the Monsters Show) adheres to and all of those were or are carried forward.
So basically we’re losing MuppetVision because Disney decided to wait until the 11th hour to prepare for Epic Universe? Wonderful. Sure do love how Iger’s ego didn’t consider EU a threat until last minuteSome interesting tidbits about muppetvision and monsters inc from Jim Hill and Len Testa during the Disney dish today:

That’s not what was said. They want to see it done within a certain timeframe as a result, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t going away regardless. So basically we’re losing MuppetVision because Disney decided to wait until the 11th hour to prepare for Epic Universe? So after years of inactivity and delay, NOW Disney is worried about EU. Better remove some more beloved attractions to make up for all that lost time! Some interesting tidbits about muppetvision and monsters inc from Jim Hill and Len Testa during the Disney dish today:

Yeah, but if they're choosing Muppets over Animation Courtyard because it's faster, then if they hadn't waited until last minute to plan a response to Epic, then they wouldn't need one less year of construction time. We could've had a fully authentic Monsters Inc land AND MuppetVision if they started even just a few years ago. That’s not what was said. They want to see it done within a certain timeframe as a result, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t going away regardless.
