They don't make enough good IP in other mediums to put in at the rate they are going.
This is why we habe random shoehorns of hopeful attempts and Toy Story has two shooting attractions in two theme parks.
Exactly. If all they do is rehash old IP, they’re going to run out. And unfortunately they won’t ever dare rehash an old, non-profitable IP like Treasure Planet or Black Cauldron, they’ll only stick to the same 10 movies forever.

If two somewhat similar ride designs is too much, you're not going to like the number of coasters...
Here 's lookin at you Bats!

Another thought: Liberty Square is losing the Liberty Belle and maybe the Hall of Presidents. That leaves only the Haunted Mansion and some shops and restaurants. At that point, why keep the patriotic theme? Why not change the name to something like “Sleepy Hollow” and lean into the spooky side of their colonial setting?

If they had the rights to Over the Garden Wall, that would make for an amazing dark ride (not like WB has their own dedicated parks, they just license). Could also do something with Hocus Pocus, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, etc.

The paddle wheel boat is not patriotic just because it has a punnish patriotic-sounding name. Its port is called "Liberty Square Port" because it's located in Liberty Square. Slapping "liberty" on stuff doesn't make it patriotic.

It is highly unlikely the HoP is going. And if it ever was to go, who says its replacement wouldn't be patriotic or Colonial?

Also, just being set in Colonial times doesn't make something patriotic. The Colonial-era facades aren't 'patriotic.' They're not fronts for manufacturing weapons to use against the Redcoats.

I know the boat isn’t inherently patriotic, but the name aligned it that way, having the “liberty” side of Liberty Square outnumbering the Haunted Mansion. It makes it clear on a surface level the land is more about America than ghosts.

In terms of a HoP replacement (which I’ve said I’m against the HoP going on a fundamental level) being patriotic or colonial- I was actually suggesting colonial style replacements. The Headless Horseman, Hocus Pocus, or (in a universe where Disney still made deals with IP they didn’t own at the time like Star Wars, Twilight Zone, and Avatar) Over the Garden Wall, which is the most popular colonial/Americana style work of fiction currently. Could even do something original (god forbid) with American folktales like Johnny Appleseed. All these aren’t patriotic necessarily, but they all have the colonial era aesthetic the land currently has. Personally I wouldn’t want Disney to retheme the land, but I wouldn’t mind a shift in what the land is focused on. Less American political history and more American historical culture and folklore would be fine by me. Not sure if I’m 100% on a Muppets show, though, as much as I liked Great Moments in History.

That you know of. Gotta keep an eye on that UK pavilion.

If any President past or present makes you that uncomfortable simply don't go. I for one love American history with all it scars and beauty.

The HoP is about the U.S. and the role and office of the presidency.

Some people think it's an endorsement of the president's political party, which it isn't. As it is now, the AA that's the president just speaks the oath of office.
We are not mature enough as a society to handle this attraction anymore.

In general I'm not a fan of closing things that may be for a niche audience, but this is really something that needs to close. It's remarkably divisive conceptually, even if it's not divisive in reality. It's also adjacent to Fantasyland so it's remarkably value real estate.

Good point- could be space for a new Fantasyland dark ride. Personally, I'd rather they use it for something new for Liberty Square, lest it truly become just the "Haunted Mansion and turkey leg" land that it already kind of is.

I wouldn't be mad if they turned HoP into an East Coast "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln"...since DL seems like they keep wanting to get rid of theirs.

As much as us park fans all hate PFH, it unfortunately serves a purpose for your average family with little kids. Still hate they removed Snow White for it, why not build it on new land?
It served a lot of different purposes.
7DMT was coming and Disney didn’t feel they needed two Snow White rides, especially when the existing one traumatized children.

It's a patriotic theme in that Colonial architecture harkens to the time of the American Revolution. If you show somebody pictures of a Colonial scene (sans flags and bunting), an Old Europe street scene and 1960s New York City and ask which they most associate with American Patriotism I would think well over 90% would pick the Colonial scene.

I don't know if the moderator edit is the reason but I think you're statement is reversed. The "concept" isn't divisive at all as the concept was to teach about the Office of the President and honor those who had served. The "reality" is divisive due to the cable news and social media era turning a small segment of the population into unstable people who react inappropriately to anybody who isn't on their "team."
