Guests at Pools

Isn't using the pool at a place that you haven't payed for the same as sneaking into the parks and riding rides without a ticket. Just because you're with someone who has payed doesn't make it okay. Paying to stay at a resort is the same as buying a ticket.

Agreed. But this exact issue is why they are looking at charging for parking at the resorts. One could argue your sister is abusing the system. I don't find a problem with that at all but i understand.

I do not believe that is correct-it was all sorts of upcharges Disney floated from WiFi, resort fee, parking and rolled into one testing of the waters. Not very likely to implement all that for how few resort guests have a family member join them for the day, that percentage pool is too tiny. The resort fee's are huge when they are going after every room. I've stayed at the Port Orleans resorts since the year they opened. Parking is never an issue. As a fan you can argue my sister abuses the system when she visits me for a day at WDW (where I take the Magical Express to) but that was my exact point, fan problem, not a Disney Problem. I wonder if they'll give me a discount because I never park a car in their lot?

I used to work as a recreation cast member at Yacht and Beach and was that person who scanned magic bands and ruined many vacations because I turned people away. If there are gates cast members at the pool (which is becoming more common) they will not be allowed in, doesn't matter if they are just visiting for the day, they won't be allowed in.

Now if you want to break the rules, I will second what people around page 2 said, the quiet pools no one cares about and they should be fine swimming there (no guarantees).

Or you could follow the rules and do something else with everyone. Make a dinner reservation, go to Disney Springs, Roast Marshmallows at your resort, play mini golf, go bowling, hang out at the Boardwalk. There are tons of things to do on property besides swimming that non-resort guest can do.

If you read English well why did you have to ask the cast member? It is clearly stated on the sign. If there had been an accident who would your cousin have sued? That specific cast member or Disney? It is very simple. You should have never put the cast member in that position. You can try and rationalize all day and night but what you did is still wrong on all accounts.

Maybe because we are 2 adults, with an adult guest, all in our 30s, with no alcohol involved - the chances of us actually having some sort of accident while lounging in a pool with no slide, with no diving, are extremely slim. And who said there was a clearly visible sign posted during my trip? He was visiting for a few hours after he got off of work the chances go down even further as we would be in the pool for less than 2 hours after having dinner. None of it concerns you at all. If the resort allowed it, based on our circumstances, then there is absolutely no reason for you to have anything negative to say. It doesn't concern you. If the resort has a hard line stance on it, then they would have told us no. They did not. It's up to them, not up to you.

Stop. Common sense and logic have no place in your life when you have a sign you can blindly obey.

Considering you're kind of late to the party, why don't you stop? If you had actually read everything then you would've seen that my scenario was a few years ago, before signs were everywhere, gates, and staff scanning MagicBands at the feature pool. In fact, this trip was before MagicBands! How long have those signs been at quiet pools around Riverside? Because I can tell you, I don't remember ever seeing a sign at the quiet pool close to us on that trip. If there was, it was not in a highly visible area. If you're new to Disney, how are you supposed to know unless you ask? So if I wasn't sure, I asked the staff working in the front lobby, and they told me it was fine to use a quiet pool, then what is it to you?? Honestly, I'm so tired of people getting a frickin attitude, and jumping down everyone's throats, whenever they ask a simple question or have a differing opinion. If the response from Disney posted earlier is correct, that it's at the resorts discretion, then leave it alone. It's at their discretion, not yours, mine, or anyone else's.

The only opinion I care about is Disney's. When I'm on Disney property, I'm answerable to Disney. Not to a Disney fan online. The OP's question has been answered many times. If you want to continue having an argument, you can do it among yourselves. I'm moving on to other topics...

Wow. This is apparently a big deal. Crazy.

We go twice a year for a few days, usually stay deluxe, and I've never gone to the pools, even when staying yacht/Beach. 3 days of park time means we're spending most of our time at the parks. So your mom can have my spot, OP.

Because people have nothing better to do than make other people feel bad. This comes down to common sense. Most Disney pools especially the quiet ones aren't going to be checking if your staying there or not. Obviously if it's peak times and popular pools they will check bands and then you just to be safe should add your family or friends to room for the day. If Disney really cared about people pool hoping they would crack down on it and make it so no one can enter pool area without bands or room key. It's not that hard. As far as the quiet pools there really isn't anything Disney can do since they don't have anyone there to monitor until it's closing time and they tell you it's time to leave.

This is not in reference to the OP's post..Only to your comment.
They are cracking down. That's why they send people with paper wristbands and scanning bands. BUT- every pool shouldn't need a gate around it.. it ruins the look and feel. People should realize that rules are actually rules.. that's why they're printed on a sign.. but instead, it will probably get to the point where all pools have fences. Sad.

No the reason for the fences is because the state of Florida past law that requires it. Why the fence around WL main pool looks horrible and cut off areas. Every pool at Disney will have a fence around it. As far as cracking down they aren't doing it at certain resorts. Places like Yacht/Beach Club, Poly and BW were always monitored more than other pools like Saratoga which has two themed pools that you can just walk right in.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?

Now, hey you, mister, can't you read?
You've got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat
You ain't supposed to be here
The sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside

Funny how things can be written down in black and white (or on colored signs) and people still deny they are actual rules to follow.

To those people I have to ask; What if you ran your own business, posted rules that made sense to you, and people still did what you didn't want them to do? You own a store and post a No skating sign. You own a movie theater and make your profits off of the popcorn, so you post a No Outside Food sign. Would you still laugh it off if people were essentially taking money from you? I doubt it.

I don't think any of us are 10 year olds that should have to be reminded to follow the rules. Sad so many adults think they are optional.

Whoa. I'm on your side.

I read all the posts in this thread, and I'm amazed that all those people driving 80 on the interstate and blowing my doors off get all high-and-mighty over a corporation's pool policy sign.

Clearly, my sarcasm didn't register with you -- I'm sorry I offended you; I didn't mean to ruffle your feelings.

When I encounter a theater that charges huge bucks to watch a movie, and then begrudges me bringing in my own special treat (that they don't sell), I find another theater or wait for the video and watch it on my own big screen.

Sorry but the sarcasm did not come through. Probably because of all the previous judgemental replies. And just to clarify, I never allow anyone I'm riding with to go over 70 on the interstate (or much over the speed limit) because I get motion sickness LOL. But most people of my acquaintance, including law enforcement, have no problem going 5-10 miles over the posted speed limit. And as for other hotel pools - when I've stayed at non-Disney hotels, yes I've asked if it was okay if a visitor used the pool with us if that's what we decided to do. And you know what? They said yes too LOL! Probably shocked that someone actually asked for permission instead of being sneaky with it :) The whole topic is now ridiculous. Wish someone would start a thread about Disney stopping the use of the second FP+ checkpoint and allowing line hoppers. Now there's a topic to get angry about LOL. Going to unfollow the thread now bc this is a carousel that isn't stopping :)
