Guest Restraining Walls around 7DMT?

Maybe this has already been discussed, and if so, please point me to the discussion, but I'm looking at the pictures for the new Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and I can't help but think that there are several areas around the attraction that come really close to guest paths. Maybe the pictures don't show it that well, but it just seems to me that it's so close and the walls are not high enough to prevent a malicious (stupid, drunk, etc) guest from hopping over and getting in the path of a train or in an area that they weren't intended to be. I'm hoping the pictures are just lacking in showing this, and that it's harder to get into the area than it looks. I hate to even think this, but we all know that if it's not reasonably safe/secured, then it won't take long for some fool to show them where this is a problem.

Plus, you can't completely dummy-proof things. I'd say that the walls (from the pictures) seriously dissuade anyone from doing what you're talking about. I would guess that a greater hazard would be morons throwing items into the path of oncoming riders. Actions like those make me seriously wonder about people.

I was just thinking about this last night. I'm hoping no one is that insensitive and STUPID, but... of course there are people who would do just such a thing and think it's "funny".

It does seem like the surrounding wall is awfully close to the tracks... I'm kind of turned around at the moment and I can't place exactly where these pics were taken. What's facing the ride from this angle? Castle walls? Be Our Guest? Is it possible to have 'lookout' cast members that could be pulling double duty (ie, checking reservations, or photopass, or something... plus watching this area to make sure people aren't stupid) nearby to keep an eye on this spot?

Slightly unrelated question, but to those of you who have seen the carts go by- what is the noise level of the ride itself? Do the carts make alot of noise going around the tracks? I apologize if this has been answered already...

I believe people have reported that they are surprisingly quiet.

It was mentioned by someone here that in-person it doesn't look as if you could easily just get onto the track.
Wrong, sadly. All it takes is one little kid climbing over one rock (The rock is about the size of the fake dinosaur outside over by dinosaur, the ones all the kids climb daily.)

All it takes is someone to not watch their kid for a couple minutes.

gives you a good view of that turn from the inside, as you can see the rockwork is directly behind the track. So the minute you step over those rocks, well good luck.

Slightly different topic, but I noticed some metal structure that looked like the castle wall structure before they were completed. It was in the vicinity of the teacups behind the const walls. Are there more castle walls/turrets on the menu?

Was it this? If so, then that is the entrance to the indoor portion of the queue.

Hope we don't end up with another Casey Jr situation here where they have to put metal fencing all along the rockwork.

Big Thunder in Disneyland is surrounded by walkways and hasn't had any issues.

My thought is that Disney has likely thought through this quite carefully - considering how lawsuit happy people are these days and how stupidly serious Disney takes fall protection (walls surrounding the castle moat were heightened in the latest refurb and decorative, uncomfortable to sit on, railings added on top - performers on balconies (even with railings) now must wear fall protection gear if the railings aren't a certain height, etc - the list goes on and on). This isn't to say it would be impossible for someone to climb the rocks and get over into the ride track area - only that its probably much more difficult than it looks, would possibly trigger an estop, and Disney has probably consulted with a 100 lawyers to make sure it couldn't be considered to be at fault if something did happen. -That'd be my suspicion/hope anyway.

This sounds reasonable, but let's not forget the Casey Jr water play area where the engine was clearly designed to be played on, but suddenly got a metal fence around it right before opening.

One would hope that a large ride - one that clearly has the ability to seriously harm or kill people if they're in the wrong place at the wrong time - got a bit more scrutiny in the design phase than a playground, especially since such considerations are commonplace in the ride design world -especially at Disney. Rides traditionally have many multiple layers of failsafes to prevent anything like what people are suggesting from happening. Of course they often also depend on common-sense telling individuals its probably not a smart idea to climb up a shear rock face to get closer to 1000 pound ride vehicles traveling at 30 mph.

I don't think Disney thinks much through carefully anymore. They just keep putting in change orders so anything thought out well is long since changed by the time they complete the project.

Playgrounds have killed far more people than coasters and they didn't put much thought into a playground that was to always be wet.

True ... but were talking about WDW ... where their are more idiots with inflated sense's of entitlement per square foot that any other place in the US. Last year I saw a parent pick their child up and place them on the top of the fence so he could get a better view of???

The crocodiles.

Had the tool dropped his kid into the enclosure god only know's the field day the ambulance chasers would have had with the lawsuit.

Me? I look at it as natural selection.

This! I would thing a water playground is as dangerous in it's own way as a roller coaster and should get just as much design scrutiny.

I'm not saying its not dangerous, its possibly even more dangerous in certain cases, but you can see wear a roller coaster has an obvious danger level.

So true. Although the most frightening thing I've ever seen was at Universal Hollywood. There were kids playing on the top of the Apollo 13 capsule prop that happens to be placed at the top of a several hundred foot drop. Parents were taking pictures, apparently not phased.
