Guardians Tower announcement Saturday in SD ...

So if they wanted to call it Burger Tower and put a giant hamburger on top it wouldn't matter because there is a city outside the gates? It must matter what the aesthetic of the tallest attraction at Disneyland actually is, right?
The trolley could roll through bugs land if it wanted. I'm glad it doesn't because it wouldn't make thematic sense. When you say use your imagination you're taking an anything goes attitude that makes thematic place making and environmental storytelling less artistic and far more commercial than it has to, something Disney used to understand.

Yes?

It was, in fact, before Ellen. I have a deep appreciation for Energy because I know what it tried to achieve. Spaceship Earth presents a historical narrative. Universe of Energy, however, presents fundamentals of physical science.

I should probably mention that it is my aspiration to be a director of audience research and evaluation at an aquarium or science center.
Don't get me wrong an energy pavilion is great and totally belongs but it needs a massive overhaul probably getting rid of Ellen. I think my biggest problem with the attraction is the lack of maintenance over the years. As for you're aspirations in researching and evaluation that's exactly the kind of effect that will be lacking once they change the park for good. It inspired people and helped young and older minds alike achieve many things in various fields of the sciences.

The overlay is shoehorned and thematically dubious, but not cheap. I'm not saying it's the best idea ever, but the "Thank you..." text on a pic of DCA's lame TOT is a bit much.

An overlay isn't shoehorned. An insert is shoehorned. An overlay is draped OVER the shoe.

But I keep waiting for someone to define "overlay" because several of you re using that word as it was never meant to be used in an effort to diminish or degrade what they're going to do here.

So ugly. So upset. So blah. So shoehorned.

Have you actually seen it? I don't get the "cheap" or "no more creativity" argument. It's a totally new story and location, and from concept art (though not always accurate) does it really look like something they did with less money than frozen? Just saying...

Define 'overlay'
Taking the existing ride system, same building, same layout and just changing the theme, story and decor of the queue. I don't need really to define anything. It is absolutley unbelievable that rather than spend money on an out of this world experince with a new ride they just wanted to take the easier way out and change Tower of Terror. There was plenty of room to make a entirely new land with new rides and experinces in the park.

Of course this would have further taken away from the "California" theme but when have they stayed true to that lately. If anything this once again shows the flaws and failures of a park that lackes true Disney show and quality. Which is a damn shame since it lays across from the happiest place on earth.

I respect Joe for the work he has done in Animal Kingdom, a park that has proven to be the DisneySea of America, but I don't care whatsoever about this project. It's such a shame that he has to take his talent and use it on something like this. And if I sound bitter and angry it is because I am. This is pathetic and they could use all the buzzwords they want, it doesn't change a thing.

Since it doesnt seem like anything will stop this from coming I just hope the final look of the outside will be reworked from the original concept art.

Maybe your right, but if they're closing it in January and are opening the overlay 6 months later, I can't imagine it having much of a budget.

The Disney I've been watching for the last 15 years or so, hasn't done many quality rides/overlays/attractions in this short of a time period.

.

So, like the seasonal overlays of various rides, this overlay can be put on and taken off in a matter of days? A couple of weeks?

Where precisely is this "plenty of room" for a entirely new land? Can you show me on a sat photo or something?

How about behind the tower? I am currently doing this from my phone so no I don't feel like posting a photo but you are more them welcome to use Google Maps to see what I'm talking about. You keep going after the word overlay and that may be wrong word but it doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day a new ride COULD have been made and the Tower could have stayed or even be enhanced with new drop profiles and effects. This is a money making grab to sell more merch and put the IPS of now into Disney parks. It's shameful

I'm just lost that this franchise is really popular. After the news on here broke I attempted to watch it and fell asleep. It was not interesting to me . The raccoon and the music were good though .
