Star Wars has been generating tons of spinoff material for decades now with little signs of fatigue in the base even with the Prequel era. Only difference now is that stuff that would have been relegated to novels and comics in the past is being filmed or animated and that its more then just publishing now.

Guardians of the Galaxy can only go so far on smartass characters and 70s/80s Jams in space. Particularly when Fox still controls a ton of Marvel's cosmic stuff through the Fantastic 4 and X-Men rights. Only so much you can do when you're restricted from using Galactus, Silver Surfer, Skrulls, Shiar, the Brood, and Mojo. If they ever do get X-Men back, a Guardians movie with Mojo as a villain would be fantastic.

Guardians will be around for at least another decade. We get a movie next year , they will be big in the next avengers and then we should get another movie early next decade.

As for Guardians you can use the Nova corps and their baddies and also simply create new characters for the movies.

This is something that "most" of us Disney "fans" just don't understand or refuse to acknowledge. A large portion of guests that visit Epcot will never know that there was anything in Norway but
Are you saying future guests? ToT, aside from being copy, is still a fairly popular ride at DCA

Any guest not there right now is a future guest.
Only a very small minority of those future guests knows what was vs what is.

I might be way off base here, but would Disney bother designing something completely new to fit into Energy Adventure, when they've already been through the hassle of the retheme of the DCA ToT? It's already done. It would be counter productive to design something completely new for a different space, when they have the exact same ToT in DHS.

I hope they do design something new. I'd rather loose Energy Adventure than ToT.

I was thinking the same thing, and surprised they are designing a different concept, but the One Disney is ending so thats def a good thing.

When the IP crashes.

I say they have about a decade before Disney makes sure that GotG is the lamest most uncool IP on the planet.

The real question is which will get there first? GotG or Star Wars? With the 43 new Star Wars movies, the 23 Star Wars spin offs, the 12 stand alones, and the 9 TV series coming. I think Star Wars will hit the super saturation point first.
Star Wars will always be relevant to a point. GotG is a flash in the pan if there ever was one

I increasingly worry whether I belong as a guest at WDW anymore.

I have shared this same sentiment for the past few years, but refrain from saying it aloud because I do not want it to be interpreted as elitist.

I sincerely hope no one takes this the wrong way, but in May, while visiting Le Cellier Steakhouse, we discussed how most families with sincere interest in the arts, architecture, and museums would likely be visiting the Ville de Québec and staying at Château Frontenac. I have a passport and could easily travel to Canada, but keep returning to Walt Disney World with the unrealistic expectation that it will be restored, someday, to its 1980s majesty.

In recent weeks, I have spent a significant amount of time exploring Disney's international park offerings. Instead of the park(s) being the thrust of the trip, they would serve as a compliment to an experience. Hong Kong Disneyland is most appealing to me because of its size and perceived intimacy.

Future, and most current Guests(with the exception of most APs, and ultra-Disney fans) won't care because the attraction itself isn't changing, just the theme.

There is a reason the ToT is a world known, award winning theme park attraction.... And drop towers around the world are a dime a dozen. A Disney attraction and its success is more than the core ride experience itself.

so what kind of ride can WDW GotG be?
a minor thrill dark ride or or something else?

If it goes into Energy Adventure, who knows. It's a pretty big space! Hopefully they can keep those awesome cars. That said, they do like to break down. I was going to say that I can't imagine a GotG ride being informative like EE but thinking about it, EE is only informative now if we were still living in the late 1990s.
Maybe they will just create something NEW. Hear that Disney? NEW.

Who are we kidding, they'll just totally change ToT. Might as well accept it now in preparation for the complete let down.

What about a different theme everywhere they have the ride? Like, in wdw it's theme is the twilight zone, in dr it's guardians of the galaxy, in tokyo it's that other story they already have. Then we only need something else for paris. I think paris really needed another theme when they built it because the people in europe don't know the twilight zone like the us.
