Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind SPOILER Thread

Visited Epcot today (first time in 10 years!) and got to ride Guardians twice. The ride itself is a blast. It’s a blur, and you can’t really tell what’s going on, but spinning around and speeding along though outer space with music blasting is such a rush it doesn’t matter.

That being said… those pre-shows… oof. The teleportation effect is cool, but both times I rode, the entire room proceeded to swarm around the exit doors hoping to rush out when the pre-show was over. I know Disney magic purists will say “but without the pre-show, it makes no sense how you get from the pavilion to the ship!” However, it doesn’t make a difference when literally none of the 100 people in the room seem to be paying attention. I don’t know how this finalized version of the plot made it through all the stages of development. Like… of all the possible reasons you would be riding along with the Guardians in outer space… this is perhaps the most complicated.

They could have made the launch be how you got into space. However, if anyone beyond a little kid believes that they were magically transported to a ship, they would need their heads examined. For that matter, you are flying along with no protection in the vacuum of space which would kill you.

What's most unbelievable is that someone with
  • two Screen Actors Guild Awards
  • three Golden Globe Awards
  • three Primetime Emmy Awards
  • three Tony Awards
  • and, eight Academy Award nominations
is playing a bit part in the pre-show.
