Ah... the new attraction "high" lol.
Ohh I know its a small thing, but It's one of those things that when you think about it you don't actually think about that.
Stupid things like things like that, permits (they have to permit with Orange County and Reddy Creek so they get double dinged and from experience with RCID permitting its pricey).
Other things not necessarily thought of like crane rentals, got one of those that's $20,000 a month without a operator. 5K Lull $1000 a week, Site Modular office trailers cost a good amount, Portable restrooms say 10 serviced a few times a week for a couple years there's an easy 33K.
I'm sure the actors get some compensation in perpetuity and Kevin Feige probably has it in his contract to get $ as well...
Basically, the cost being tossed around is to say "look its expensive it must be great" but in reality that's the cost of every bit of scope of the project and not just the ride experience itself and or tech involved.

The rotating vehicles were developed by Vekoma, so not Disney's R&D on this one.I would also add, often times with Disney the costs wrap in other projects, as well I assume it also includes all R&D done for these new ride vehicles.
But, Disney did pick the colors. Gotta give 'em credit for that. The rotating vehicles were developed by Vekoma, so not Disney's R&D on this one.

Yes, I'm fully aware of the convoluted back story. My question is, why deal with time travel at all? What effect does it have on the ride experience, physically or aesthetically? If you set up time travel at great length as your attractions central plot element, you expect it to have some impact on the ride experience. This would literally be the same ride if you were chasing Eson through space. I'd bet a not-insignificant amount of money that a lot of effects highlighting the "Cosmic Rewind," time travel aspect of the ride were cut.
Also, as I pointed out, we inexplicably see Eson jump back to the big bang twice - he does so in the preshow (taking Earth??? with him for some reason) and then, inexplicably, in the first scene of the ride, we jump with Eson again.
Also also, we are chasing Eson to track him for the Guardians... who arrive immediately, so that plot point is totally discarded.
Also also also, I know we don't care about the MCU here, but its kind of absurd that the plot of this ride completely negates the first 20 years of films, since if the Guardians had access to unlimited time travel after the first film, the ENTIRE PLOT of Infinity War and Endgame is nullified. This is even funnier because the time travel serves no purpose in the ride!
I don't think we've ever seen a ride where budget cuts and last minute rewrites have made such an incomprehensible mess of a plot. It's another reason you don't do complicated plots on theme park attractions!
What's the second AA in M:B?
Has anyone considered that the lack of physical Guardians theming was done by design so that they could more easily do overlays and, dare I say it, eventually retheme this ride in the (probably far) future?
Actually, though, here's a question for everyone: In say, 20 years, will the Guardians still call Epcot home?
Not defending the decision, but mission breakouts budget was able to be almost entirely allocated to the show. They did not have to build a new building and a ride system from the ground up.I just can't believe there was no room for animatronics in a $500 million budget. Mission: Breakout had a budget of like three bucks, and they were able to use it to buy one (I guess really two) extremely impressive animatronics. So how can $500 million not get a single one??

it's a co development between WDI and someone else, to a layout I believe will be unique at opening.
WDI certainly had some involvement. The layout is custom, and the vehicles are obviously custom. But as far as I know, Vekoma had the rotating ride system as a product ready for Disney to use.Was it a joint project though? I ran across this post from 2017 the other day (searching for the source of the $450 million budget)…
but it didn’t say if the co-development was specifically for the track or for something else on the ride.

Word. Dear Disney, how come the story isn’t just: Wanna ride a spaceship?

I was looking for the source of the $450 million budget on the original Cosmic Rewind thread and found the thread fascinating, all the predictions and insider info from 2017 (that were spot on) are far more interesting in hindsight. How do you find something I wrote 5 years ago when I don’t remember what I did 5 minutes ago?!
