I’m confused. This is an angle that no one in the parks would have ever seen. Have something taken from WS that illustrates what you have in mind? I truly cannot picture it as ever having been so visually appealing.?
Allow me to assist when we finally have that coffee!

I can’t find to hand the photos I wanted, but here’s one

Thx! What year? How would they have added attractions and retained this? Is that thing to the left of SE appealing?
They could add attractions either by adding on to existing structures using a similar theme, or add new structures with their own iconic futuristic design that fit the aesthetic of Future World. How did they add Splash Mountain to Frontierland? By theming it appropriately.

Fair enough! That would have been preferable. What was there pre-GotG was not that, though, IMO. And I think that would be near-impossible with GotG given the inherent theme mismatch.

But again, there’s a reason I’m not an imagineer (!!)... maybe they could have done better than go-away-blue-green if they had tried. But it strikes me that the EPCOT ship sailed AWAY a long time ago, and there’s no apparent intent to steer it back. Given all of that, I‘ll take the go-away building that really isn’t obtrusive in person IMO.

They would also have to trim or replant a lot of trees to recreate that look. Imagine the uproar around here if they started doing that.

You keep saying this as though there have been some radical changes to the Future World skyline. Horizons was torn down, the Transportation pavilion was junked up a bit and Soarin’ was built. There aren’t any other huge show buildings that have been added.

I guess I have Soarin and Test Track most in mind. While the latter might work thematically for FW, looks ugly in the distance to me. Soarin is just... not pretty.

Most times I glance across and don’t pay much attention. I focus on SE. When I pause to look more carefully, these things aren’t appealing to me. Given this, adding another box that blends away just isn’t a big deal to me.

I believe that when EPCOT Center was designed and built, it was one of the most beautiful theme parks ever created. Over time, this has changed as new parks have opened (Animal Kingdom, Disney Sea, etc...), but it also became less beautiful over the years as many mistakes were made with Future World. A few notable examples are the tombstones, the wand, the tarps, the Test Track canopy, strange colors on Innoventions, and yes, large unthemed buildings such as Soarin' and GotG. When each pavilion was designed, care was put into the look of the building so that it would reflect what the pavilion was about. SSE represents global unity, World of Motion was shaped like a wheel, Journey Into Imagination has the glass pyramids representing the limitless possibilities of imagination, and The Land has the now hidden because of trees Volcano shaped building, which represented an important part of nature.

Unrelated to Future World, in the past, when a coaster was built, typically it was designed to tell a story. Space Mountain, Everest, Big Thunder Mountain, and Matterhorn in Disneyland each do not have a giant showbuilding, instead they built the coaster in an iconic structure. I believe this could have been done with GotG as well, but sadly they took the cheaper and faster route, and built a generic box. Regardless of opinion about the sightlines, I'm pretty sure all of us would agree that if they built a structure that had a more iconic design, it would have been better for the park in the long term.

They didn't want this massive structure to compete visually - or worse overshadow - Spaceship Earth.
They should have sunk half of it into the ground, then only the upper half would need the camo job - and that half would barely rise above the trees.

Florida...high water table...it would be underwater... and in person that building is massive...kind of crazy massive.

Ok.
They could have built land up around the lower half of the building - at least the half facing the Epcot sightlines - and done planting in it.
Then only the half above the dirt would need to be painted, and foliage would block much of that.
I believe that years ago in days of old when magic filled the air (for those of you that get the reference) it would have been done this way.

I think a giant box of trees would draw even more attention than the sky-blue box

they did build huge berms around Galaxy's Edge... but I don't think they can buld a berm high enough to block that monstrosity...

Everyone on here is complaining that they should have made the box more clearly themed, but I'm like 100% certain that if they did that people would complain about how they made it so easily visible and how awful it looks on the skylines and how they wish they had hidden it.

People would have complained regardless of what direction they went in. I don’t like GotG in Epcot, but personally I’m past it at this point. Complaining won’t solve any problems. IMO I think hiding it like they have is they best thing they could have done.

My hypothetical berm wouldn't need to block all of the structure, just half of it.
Paint the upper half camo and do some planting in front of it and at least the outline would be broken up significantly.
