News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

While I don't despise the stand like many seem to, I have wondered whether, if it's meant to be a working ship that's "docked" (vs being an exhibit display - still not sure which it's supposed to be story-wise), they could have instead done something similar to Pandora and mimicked "floating" by using steel tubing themed like refueling hoses, etc. to create an "invisible" support, or would the diameter of the tubing have to be too wide for that to believably work. The stand does contain all the electrical wiring, so I suppose maintenance access is also a consideration.

Ridiculous. I literally launched a rocket next door, flew around the world, and landed during a hurricane.

Not sure to what extent this was already talked about, but the new D23 issue had a segment devoted to Cosmic Rewind. Most of it confirms what we already know, but some things stood out at the very least to provide further details (potential spoiler warning?)

-That picture of a young quill in front of spaceship earth is apparently still relevant. EPCOT inspired Quill so much as a child that he decided to bring the Guardians.es between Xandar's and Earth's galaxies"
-"This is a multi part story"um will showcase "the similarities and differences between Xandar's and Earth's galaxies"
-"This is a multi part story"

That support is just clunky, bulky, and ugly. It’s just a bad design with no elegance. They have done better and should be doing better here. #cheapek strikes again

By the way, the fact that no one in this thread is sure whether the ship is meant to be a museum display or an actual docked ship (I think it’s the former) shows just how bad the design really is.
There’s still a piece missing behind the blasters, maybe that’s the piece that’s going to pull it all together and make it clear. 😉

If that were true, I’d hope to see some mechanical bits, perhaps some pipes or hoses, on the base.

Well...yeah that's true.

It's funny, I see pictures on social media of things and I think "wow, that looks cool!". Then I come to this site to see any news for the day and I read posts about what I saw and i think maybe it's not cool.

Then I wonder if I should stop reading here and continue to be happy in ignorant bliss. 😄

I can't speak for other people, but when I'm complaining about something it's because it doesn't look cool to me for whatever reason. It's not "well that looks cool, but it's not right because of A and B" -- if anything it's the reverse, where A and B make it not look cool to me.

If you think it looks cool, then it looks cool! It's all subjective.

Yup. UNC is right. If it looks cool to you, great. If it doesn't, it can be useful and fun to try to figure out why - what's wrong and how did it get to be wrong.

It's all subjective. I'll still argue about it, of course.

I come here to balance myself out. In the real world I’m often defending Epcot and pointing out issues with Star Wars and Disney.

Don't recall who asked about AA's in this attraction but I can confirm there are none...there were supposed to be...but they were cut by the guy who doesn't want to be known as a penny pincher.
