There are concerns about the night lighting package on this being washed out/ diminished by SSE’s new lights (which already illuminate the west half of the façade).
I didn't even think about this. I guess myself and pretty much everyone else was so in awe of how pretty SSE looked with the lights that nobody really noticed it pretty much washes over everything around it.

I'm sure the lighting package for Guardians will still look decent but I definitely see the SSE lights being an issue. Would be happy to proved wrong

They need to be concerned with those "Skinny" walkway pole lights installed around the future world / into world showcase area.. the light level is so low over there that you easily trip and walk into stuff. The area lights DO NOT downlight the walkways.

How that got past safety is beyond me.

Also the big ball washes out most of future world anyways.
I wonder if the lower lighting is connected to the Guardians-SSE lighting package issue. Maybe Disney decided that it would be even worse with brighter path lights? I noticed the dim lighting in that area on my most recent trip. Wasn't bad to the point where I felt unsafe to walk in but it was still noticeable

I gotta ask, what else is planned for the the buildings lighting? They ditched some of the lighting already on it. Are the "solar panels" going to light up at least? The ribs surely aren't and the front doesn't seem to have anything great setup for it...

Yeah...a giant sphere covered in super-bright LEDs isn't exactly conducive to ambient lighting anywhere near it.

One of my favorite rides....
I think it's a good ride. Universal really stepped up their game with Harry Potter in their parks. Very immersive. I'd trust them to do an overnight HP experience. Not sure how Disney fell down on the Starcruiser. They did a great job on GE's look. I know they weren't going with run-down and weathered. But, surely the SW universe has something that conjures clean & luxury...

GotG's queue should be very good just going on the size of queue. They did a great job with the ToT conversion in DLR. So, I'm expecting the same level of detail here. Still don't think the pavilion concept fits IP like this. But, I'm sure this will be better than Ellen's Energy Thingy.

Gosh, if they'd only have done the smart thing in the first place and not made SSE into a gigantic LED billboard...

I'll say it again - Turn the power down and use the LEDs and floodlights to accentuate SSE's natural textures and you have something. The small points of light with the blue light on SSE is stunning.

Not "pretty much everyone else". Not even close.

I agree with this. I still wish the story was Sci Fi and how the real world inspired people like Stan Lee to create the worlds of Marvel. And then included some real world examples of that inspiration, but I digress...

Now I'm thinking about a Potter Prospective Students Day. Much like colleges used to do. You would visit and stay in a dorm, have a current student guide, attend classes, dine in the dining hall, etc. Or play hookey and explore the dorm - naturally getting in trouble if you do. That could be an incredible implementation of the idea at hand. (Not that Star Wars couldn't also - just not what GS appears to be.)

Without even exaggerating, you're the only person I've ever met both online or offline that dislikes the SSE lights.

Well, it's not that simple.

The issue is how they're used. Sometimes they are wonderful and look great; other times they look like a Las Vegas resort billboard. There are plenty of people who dislike the latter -- even the proprietor of this website has mentioned how bad they look at times, as though it was two completely separate teams designing the lighting package where one knew what they were doing and the other had no clue.

I don't think there are many people who are completely opposed to them 100% of the time, they just need better utilization.

So for everyone thats been in the park since the lights were turned on: has there been any noticeable change in mosquito behavior around the ball?

Seems like a rookie mistake that issues were only noticed after installation. Did they just completely disregard the photometric study?

THEZach is no rookie. I'm sure he meticulously analyzed the information, along with the brilliant Imagineers in charge of creating such great storytelling involved with this unique, immersive experience on an iconic piece of architecture that harkens back to Walt and the very origins of Epcot.

Different teams. Do you expect them to communicate? And while The Zach gets to do the Instagramming for Guardians of the Galaxy, the Marvel attractions are their own portfolio lead by Scott Drake.
