As long as the IPs are different each park is still unique.

I can't tell if you're joking.

If you're not, well geez, how do I respond? IPs by themselves are not the foundation of a good ride or park, they're just an element. If the different IPs don't at least relate to each other and distinguish themselves from IPs at the other parks, then no, each park is not unique. That's like day 1 of design school, and I didn't even say the word "theme."

If you are joking, I apologize, carry on. :)

What I meant was as long as they don't build GotG rides in each park each will be unique.

not to speak for @SpaceMountain77 but I took the Euro-centric history to equate to what was called 'Western Civilization'. A focus on history that leads to the creation of the European and American powers, but leaves out components that influenced the rest of the world.

When I was in college, back in the 90's, all of our Western Civ classes were updated to be Global Civ and included mythology, literature and history from around the world, not just the 'path to America'.

why would anyone want to walk another path? =)

Still on the Pandora hate train eh?
These message boards really illustrate how completely different people can be. To me, Pandora is a perfect example of everything that I love about themeparks and FoP is probably my favorite ride in the world right now. But some people aren't impressed at all and I just don't understand how that can be possible and yet it is. I mean, there is nothing wrong with not liking Pandora or anything else for that matter. To each their own. But how that is possible is a complete mind scrambler for me. Also amazing to me is how Disney manages to continue to attract and please so many people from all walks of life and with such different expectations and likes. Impressive to say the least.

I have to imagine this is going to have more showscene-type stuff than RnRC. At least I hope so. Boy, if not, that'd be disappointing.

If doctornick gave me seven anxiety attacks, I think you just made me drop dead, so I'm afraid I can't discuss this further.

Interesting to hear all opinions.

Completely agreed.

There's no problem with someone disliking it but that particular poster, along with a few others, seem to go out of their way to dismiss it and they weren't going to like it from the start, for whatever reason. They just aren't impressed and were never going to be. They had their mind made up.

(...) the absence of the artistry, gravity and grand showmanship of UoE (...)

Yes, this. I really don't care if it is sponsored or not. Don't care if it has Ellen, Dinosaurs, or the snarky raccoon. It can edu-tain, info-tain, or just entertain. Couldn't care less about IP either. But the attraction really must be be awe-inspiring. When I think back to my visits to WDW as a kid, sponsors (like Eastern Airlines) and IPs (like Snow White's witch) were MAGIC because the rides were so awesome they imbued with magic anything affiliated with them. It doesn't work the other way around!

Exactly. If it's true that GOTG is going to be a pure coaster, rather than a coaster interspersed with screens or animatronics, the pre-show and queue are really going to have to knock it out of the park for this to feel justified. As always, I'm fine with an IP–just wish it wasn't this one.

Yeah there are definitely people who do that and I actually feel bad for them. It's almost like they are robbing themselves of their own joy when they do this. I mean there are also people who just don't like something and had no preconceived ideas going in but yeah. I hope I never talk myself out of enjoying something just because it isn't what I was hoping for or expecting. Life is too short for that. I find that I'm happiest when I try and find the good in everything and then focus on that instead of zeroing in on the negatives. For example, GoTG is something that I agree is being built in the wrong park. No doubt about it. But I can almost guarantee that I am still going to enjoy the heck out of it despite it's location problems. :joyfull:

Exactly. Well said.
When Pandora was announced I thought...thats an odd choice.
Now i think its absolutely amazing. Both rides and the land.
I dont cate much about Star Wars but maybe I ll have the same experience there.
Never dish it before you ve seen it!!!

What gets me with all of this, they must've really wanted this ride system GONE. To close GMR and UoE on the same exact days sends a strange feeling out. Which is sad because it was a truly unique ride system that could move a metric crap-ton (official term) of people in one go.

Think of it this way though, GMR and UoE's ride system paved the way for the trackless rides we have today like Mystic Manor, Aquatopia, and Rat. It's unfortunate that these 2 systems were left to rot but they were the stepping stone for much better technology.

Agreed, since they built the whole park in less time. As long as revenue is up and operational expenses are down, it doesn't seem critical to need to hurry, I guess.
