I would love something like that as well, and was honestly expecting that when I heard the announcement, knowing how much fun they could have with different show scenes using the Guardians characters since I personally thought Mission Breakout was a lot of fun because of the interactions with the characters, but it's been stated a lot of times on this thread that it will not be something like that and more of just a plain coaster for the ride and then good show scenes in the queue.. something like that... which is sad.

just as sad as your aforementioned mission break out. zing.....

^ His line is complete bull****. In what way is any coaster with a height requirement using characters from PG-13 films any more family-friendly than a good traveling theater ride? I wouldn't consider this is any more timeless, relevant, family, or Disney than an updated UoE would be.

to be fair gringotts still has a decent height requirement and is otherwise family friendly. nothing absurd. I think gringotts height wise would be a good goal.

I agree but his line is "more family." The reason the GotG coaster may fit any of the four statements is because it wasn't neglected for 20+ years and feels fresh. If they don't touch the coaster till 2041 it'll have the same problems as anything else. Doesn't mean you have to shift the park's direction, just keep things up to speed over time.

It's a coaster. Little kids won't reach the height requirement. The elements of the PG-13 movies which make it PG-13 won't be included in the ride. Mission Breakout didn't turn ToT into a PG-13 ride.

People continue to say Roller Coasters aren't family friendly, must not pay attention to the wait times at all 4 parks. Roller Coasters are the most popular attractions at Disney, by a pretty wide margin.
Like Flight of Passage, Soarin, Test Track, Frozen Ever After, Toy Story Midway Mania, Tower fo Terror, and Splash Mountain. Got it.

The ride in Hershey's Chocolate World in Hershey, PA, opened in 1973. They've consistently updated it about once a decade, with a big overhaul in 2008, and as a result, it remains extremely fresh and popular. The 1973 version would feel quite dated, but the 2008 version does not at all (I don't want to get into the 2016 changes). You also get a free piece of candy after coming off of the free ride. And for a chocolate company, they make one hell of a lot of dough!

My point is Epcot could've stayed just as fresh and popular.

But imagine if every other attraction at Hershey Park had a similar pace and structure with only the subject matter changing. How popular and fresh would such a park be? Epcot has a lot wrong with it now, but I think the trend in mixing up the types of rides the park offers is at least positive.

I've been to Hershey twice and highly recommend it. It is more of a Six Flags type park, but with more charm. The Chocolate World ride makes for a nice break in the day, and a good way to cool off and let your stomach settle after a day of coasters and spinners. When you exit, you get the aforementioned free piece of chocolate, but you can also get bulk Hershey products cheap there as well.

in that way, you're specifically referencing wom and horizons...
in no way would epcot be in a poorer state than it is right now with updated (a la sse) versions of those bad boys still chugging along.

enough years of stagnant blah have passed to be able to deem the irrational 90's epcot center panic to have been a grave error and one that will cause great expense to course correct, mind you

granted, we'd then be debating cars and wall-e overlays...
but still!
:p

From Disney's PR regarding the D23 Expo:

Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction at Epcot
Larger-than-life Super Heroes will descend upon Epcot with the opening of a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. Based on the rockin’, action-packed “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies, this one-of-a-kind family attraction will feature a brand-new, innovative ride system – and will be one of the longest enclosed roller coasters in the world! Coming to Epcot Future World, the new attraction will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.

I'll say this I strongly disagree with what they are doing to Epcot Center (I wanted them to go back to their roots not dumbed down "family friendly" take). However I do admire the ambition of it all. We never saw anything like this during the second half of Eisners tenure and was one of the biggest reasons I along with thousands of other shareholders voted him out.

Big scope thinking and radical redesigns are what Walt Disney was all about.

eisner got a little strange at the end, selling celebraiton. Why bob i. Re-doing downtown disney, in his 17 teen years no stock split. Avatar cost a billion and I like sci-fi but I don’t get that movie.star wars i cant wait, i no that all the money, for everything comes from the tickets, but $126. With tax? Stop building not every thing has to be changed stop stop it

Horizons and Imagination were the two best IMHO .... a real crime that Horizon's was shut down.
EPCOT's soul was lost the day Horizons closed.
gotta agree but dont forget WOL. That was the thing that I remember most as a kid. They had body wars, cranium command, and those bikes with the tv screen. I could spend hours on those bikes riding around different locations ( I remember disneyland was one location that they used). Those memories of epcot stick out the most for me.
