Well guys, this is it. Grizz just informed me by PM that he's no longer posting here after the WDI layoffs thread. He was really saddened by the hurtful things people said about him there. I hope you're all proud of yourselves. Grizz acutally had good inside info on things like the rehab of the Land and Living seas and many others. If you're an anti Grizz person, don't even bother posting on this thread, you will be wasting your time. Goodbye Grizz, you will be missed.

I definitely missed something. Anyway... we've all had our feelings hurt at one time or another... that's no reason to leave. And the more you post, and the louder you post, the more you are leaving yourself open to criticism. That's the price you pay, the chance you take, for making a name for yourself. But I can't see Grizz being happy sitting silently in a corner somewhere. ;)

Truthfully I don't read a lot of his threads because I can't follow along. I don't know that much about Disney, don't get to the World that often, and have too much on my plate to really study that stuff. But I know he will be missed and I trust he will be back soon.

Ah man, Grizz is on of the best posters here on WDWMagic. He supplies good info, with tons of laughs to go along with it. I thought we would be seeing more of him around here, and since D-Troops is under new management, now we're not gunna see him here, unless it's for some time or on another site. I say shame on you peoples who dissed the Grizz!! :fork: He will surely be missed. :(

Well, he PMed me again, and said that he wasn't gone for good, he'll be back, but not for a while. He's simply taking a break. But he will be missed for the time that he is gone. :(

Imagineer Boy, he said in that thread that he was going to take a break. Things did get a little heated there, and sometimes a break is good for anyone. It has happened before around here; but in the end the variety of opinions are good to have. I hope it is only a break.

It will be tempting for both his supporters and detractors to use this thread to bash him or others. Please do not do that. We can encourage one another without bashing opponents. Please do not feed into this. It doesn't help to bash his detractors.

Griz often comes across as passionate about the past... things and ideas that made a difference to him and ultimately made Disney important to him. He does not often seem to understand his detractors, who are often just as passionate about progress and "moving on"... and along the way sometimes feelings get hurt, perhaps on both sides. Griz has said many times that he wants progress (and has listed examples such as TOT and Philharmagic), but that argument often gets lost in his vociferous and perhaps sometimes misunderstood defense of keeping up things from the past that he thinks define the company. He has often praised people around here, and offered birthday greetings, just as he has gotten into passionate arguments about the past.

We all have room for opinion on this board. That is the beauty of it, to me. Where else can I find so many people who know so much about WDW? And, personally, I know that I can learn from people who have a different view, even though I ultimately may disagree. But along the way, sometimes we can all get too close to a situation.

A little break should help. It has in the past. New Orleans and the Gulf coast should provide some perspective for everyone, both for Griz in his passionate arguments and for others in their strong statements against him or his ideas. In the end, WDW imagineering is wonderful and inspirational, but it is not everything. Neither is anything we post here.

If Griz chooses to take a break, the best thing his supporters can do is to support him and perhaps send him PM. I believe bashing anyone in this thread would not help anyone. (Perhaps it should be locked.)

I am glad to hear that he will be back. While I do not agree with everything he has posted I do believe he is one of the top posters here at WDWMagic and losing him would not be a good thing.

As for the nastiness, I followed that thread (WDI Layoffs) and others. It seems that there are several members that are incapable of having an intelligent debate without resorting to personal attacks. It is possible to disagree, discuss and not attack. Quite honestly I avoid posting a lot or responding because I do like this site and I do not want to begin associating it with nasty personal attacks.

PHeww Imagineerboy don't scare us like that!

 Well, in his PM to me he said "I'm done posting here" and I figured that it meant he was gone for good. He PMed me back and said that he changed his mind, and was simply taking a vacation.

VERY nice post prberk. :D BTW, he didn't say in the thread that he was taking a break before I posted this thread. He edited that statement into his post in the thread after I posted this and PMed me that he wasn't gone for good. Just wanted to clear that up. :)

I've gone that route myself. Sometimes taking a break is just what the doctor ordered.

 Have a nice break, Grizz.

*goes over to the WDI thread to see what this was all about*

Edit: Ouch--looks like Grizz has a point about taking a break...

Grizz won't be gone long. I wish that WDI Layoffs thread would be locked and deleted because it changed my opinion on alot of people around here. It will be hard to read their posts the same way again.
