Gringotts

Oh and if you have long legs don't ride the ride. I'm 6'ft even, ride hurt my legs and knees like hell. That turned me off about it but when you become fully immersed in the journey you forget about it. While loading , if you are tall, you will feel it. I assure you.

I'm 6'2" and know what you mean. Those ankle restraints are very uncomfortable and highly unnecessary if you ask me. Why do we need our ankles restrained? It's not like we're moving too much or going upside down?

I waited 5 hours to get on Gringotts and was slightly disappointed since I was expecting to be blown away. It's a good ride, but I'm not sure where exactly it stacks up with other rides yet. I need to ride without a frustrating wait to better judge it.

Where are all the angry mobs with pitchforks that had been trained at bashing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train when it had month1 sporadic downtime?

I can't wait to try Gringotts (and FJ which was down just as we were finishing queue on my last trip). Scratch that. I CAN wait and will do so for a good year since crowds and maintenance will hopefully calm down by then.

as for 240+ waits for this or Anna/Elsa, I applaud the people who have that kind of patience but personally avoid any lines >30 min whenever possible via TP/FP. I find that I value more experiences > fewer (but more exclusive) experiences. No doubt it could be different if I was local with AP.

to each their own though! No disrespect meant to the hardcore fans who've hit it this close to launch.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a small steel coaster, a ride system that has been done many times before for many years whereas Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is not.
Not to mention built by a company that should be doing far far more far more often.

If the rest of the park - and the other parks - were as good as could be the Dwarf Coaster wouldn't get so much flack. And of course if it hadn't taken nearly three years to build.

At least Comcast are trying. And trying hard.

Hopefully that will translate into just over an hour in the coming weeks.

Good I will go back for a few more rides in the next week. It was good the first time after 6.5 hour wait, much better the second time on EPA after a 15 minute wait and OK the third time after 1.5 hours while it went down. I had the same impression as others the first time is it was too short but I think the wait cemented that. The second time when it was almost a walk on it was great, amazing, stupendous or any other adjective you could throw at it. 3rd time after spending an hour in the single dungeon with a hundred of my favorite riders it was just OK. I need to do a few back to back short waits to really get the best impression and I am sure that it will be one of my favorites as soon as that happens. Yeah I AM biased but it is the best land with the best ride I have been on to date and I spend a few days a week at all the parks!

Only a 2 hour wait today for Gringotts while I was in the park and that was in the afternoon
Good to hear. I'm trying to convince my parents to come with me to Universal when they're down here early next month but my dad would rather wait until October. Hopefully if wait times drop I'll be able to convince him haha.

I waited 3 1/2 hours to ride Gringotts today, but afterwards I rode Forbidden Journey...and while I have to say Journey is more intense and they did a good job brightening the domes, at the same time I have to admit that Gringotts is now far more immersive and believable. In FJ for the first time I was able to see the projectors, lights, the unused Dementors, etc. the new ride programming and screen lighting has indeed ruined some of the magic. Still a fun ride, but honestly right now I think Gringotts takes the cake. (At least for now!)

I really wonder if the same improvements that are apparently being applied to the Japan and Hollywood versions of Forbidden Journey will make their way to Orlando one day.

I have no idea what they're doing, but the rumored improvements are supposedly impossible for our version.

But I also wouldn't be surprised to find the new ones are exactly the same as ours upon opening.

Really? That sucks :( I thought the improvements were basically 3D instead of 2D for the screens but I guess there's more to it than that. Oh well, we'll still have the best overall Wizarding World what with the Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley and Gringotts ;)

The practical sets in FJ are so rich that I wouldn't want 3D glasses getting in the way. And no, I'm not generally against 3D in attractions. But with 180 degree domes, adding a 3D effect would, in my opinion, be overkill. And 3D projected into a half-sphere, as opposed to a curved screen, would render questionable, likely very disorientating, results.
