LIke I-4 between Champion's gate and the 429. Wheeee!
I often describe that section of I-4 as a concrete rally course.

I am curious to see what they are going to do with the lighting on this walkway. Are they going to use those "globe" lights that were on the existing path? I wonder if there is any lighting on the bridges as well. I'm thinking some kind of railing lighting perhaps.

Some good news...a nice little touch.

I assume they have some type of automated closure system for the draw bridge going up? The water pageant is still back there, right?

Yes it looks like the lighting is on the railing - you can see it in this pic

It is a swing bridge, so it pivots on a base.

You can see it well in this pic
Cool....

I was wondering if there’s a way they “shut” the path near the monorail station when they know it’s gonna open?

I can hear a lot of complaints coming if they let people walk right up to the bridge when it’s hot...only to be turned around. Even if it’s only for 10 minutes a day

I would think it would only open to let the pageant boats out and to return. There are gates at the bridge but the pageant has a schedule (mostly) and a guest might know it is happening and the bridge would be closed?
That or if they need to remove the paddle boat for repairs

I would assume they would do the same thing they do in Epcot which is nothing.

Possibly...

It’s about a 1/4 mile to get to that bridge, however...and I’ve learned NEVER to underestimate the ability of Disney travelers to complain
I am sure guest relations at Epcot sees a non-zero number of people complaining about the draw bridge on a daily basis. In the end, it is not enough to worry about. This will be no different unless a closure is for a significant span of time.

One thing they will have to think about is when they open it for the Electric Water Pageant. If memory serves me correctly, that goes off right after the fireworks. It will not be a pretty picture if they open the bridge right at the fireworks dump.

They may need to make adjustments to the timing of when those boats go out on getting them into the lagoon a little earlier to avoid this which doesn't seem like it would be a major issue... although it may result in them paying someone to get working 15-30 minutes earlier than they used to.

You know, I said that thing about them having to pay someone a little more sort of sarcastically but in thinking more, this is probably a larger concern than we'd consider when it comes to costs and logistics.

Once this opens, it appears it may take as many as three members to shlep out there to do this, in addition to the timing on the boats. They'll also have to cover this extra space for landscaping and maintenance and security. It may not end up actually costing the Walt Disney Co. more but if it doesn't, it means additional strain on a few different departments to absorb this cost with existing staffing.

And that still might not seem like that big of a deal but it happens nearly every time they change something.

I'm thrilled with all the planters being restored at the entrance of Epcot but I'm sure there was a discussion somewhere about the costs associated with maintaining them vs. the occasional bottle or two of Windex on the grave stones.

I'm sure this kind of stuff isn't something that ever hits Bob's desk but for departments that may already be stretched, I bet there is a lot of internal negotiating when they make these changes.
