Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

I don't know about people getting irritated, almost the same thing happens when the ferry docks but I do agree that this will not be a one CM station.

You mean the people on the ferry who are on the end where they launch or dock who watch that whole process play out? I agree I've never seen anyone get openly angry but I've seen plenty get impatient. That's a little different though coming from the parking lot and feeling like they're only feet away from the entrance so maybe you're right.

Then again, I suspect this overall process will take longer since in addition, you're also waiting on all the boats to pass by. Maybe if they've got them lit up before they come out so there's something to keep folks occupied while they wait. That probably wouldn't be too much to do but I believe they only turn them on after a certain point in the lagoon, currently (or, well, you know, before the pandemic).

If only we could get paid for our work in trying to figure this all out for them, eh? :)

Maybe they put a good bearing in and it will swing like a pinball flipper.....

The bridge is being operated by watercraft, but there seem to be implicit instructions for them to use it (as in swing it open) somewhat sparingly. Likely only for major things moving in and out of the canal (like the Liberty Belle going to dry dock or the Electrical Water Pageant). There will almost assuredly be two people working the bridge (and it may even be actively told to guests when the bridge will open).

Once they put in the margarita bar and benches out there I'm sure a crowd will gather for the nightly opening.......

I’m being nitpicky, but the path starts on the inside of the monorail loop, right by the orange-yellow smudge I added:View attachment 485849
It keeps the path more like a “resort” path and less like a “Convention” path.

Also of note, like @MansionButler84 said, the current plan is to reopen the path with the GF, but the pathway has made such fast progress, that there is a current investigation to see if it could be opened before the Bubble bursts and if enough people would use it to warrant the extra staffing that would be needed to maintain the brief spot where guests would intersect the bubble.

Don't they have enough of that yucky blue fencing left to keep guests at GF and Poly (who only want to walk to the MK and Contempo) from getting an accidental look at a basketball player?

Right now, all of the “Blue” areas are actively being used by the NBA. The bottom is the nearest guest accessible area, and the big red circle is the pathway entrance. While possible, there would have to be a way to block guests on the path when NBA people needed to crossover, which would require extra staffing and work. Plus, having guests knowingly a fence away from NBA (as in knowing there is someone on the other side of the fence in that moment because the pathway is blocked) is a decent security risk.

I cannot imagine this is a final iteration. The temp walkways may be shimmed for guest use, as is they are a hazard. It looks like the evac stairs will be connected to the concrete once the temp walkway is removed. The tent and checkpoint will work for the moment but "Nearly Complete" by BM is stretching it a bit I think.

This portion of the walkway is temporary to bypass the currently unfinished dock and security structure area.

In the long run at night this walkway will help with getting guest back to the TTC. Yes it will be a walk but it will probably be quicker and less packed.

The security tent being up is making me actually think they might try to have this open before the NBA leaves GF.

Also, the current path is mid-term temporary. I’d be shocked to see the new dock complex be done by the end of the year, but once it finally is done, they will route the path along the waterfront to meet up with the security checkpoint at the boat dock.

In terms of getting it operational, I'd imagine it is nearly complete, no?

Most likely what looks like unevenness is intentional - flat, sloped, flat, sloped, to give flat areas for wheelchairs, strollers, etc. to make a stop if needed.
Ever tried to hold on to a wheelchair on the ramp at Small World?

That's good that the white bridge that is being built for guests by the GF has higher walls. Right below are 🐊🐊 infested waters.

Interesting! It's a topic for another thread but...aren't the parks outside their bubble?

They can attend closed-to-the-public events like fishing, golfing, or a park after-hours. All those things are controlled by the NBA including signing up, check-out, and check-in. The park events aren't nightly. There are several scheduled and players have to sign up for the night it runs.
