Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Walkway

I can appreciate the sentiment behind this.

However week by week updates depends on people being there and taking photos. And obviously right now there will typically be far fewer forum members thee at any one time, let alone ones who have an interest in taking photos from the monorail.

Often the photos posted are taken from say Bioreconstruct but I don’t know how active he is right now.

So then the thread gets lost amongst all the other more active threads. O/T chat keeps it at on the first page and perhaps that will remind someone who is there to take a photo or two.

Most of Biorecostruct's photos have been California-centric of late. I've been watching closely because I, too, would love updates on this walkway.

I can tell you they were actively working on the walkway today. The bridge was on the land still. They will not let you walk to the wallet from the GF. I tried last nite and was stopped by the GF Mgr. I said I was just out walking around and was looking for directions to yhe walkway. He told me the walkway was not available. I asked him what was available to do at the GF. He responded by telling me that my Villa was open and pointed me back in that direction. It was around 10pm. There is a lot of security including police officers at the grand Floridian right now the 1st night we were there, there was no security that I could see and then last night and the night before tons of security so I wonder if something happened.

Some of the NBA players escaped but are back in the bubble now. Probably thought you were door dash trying to sneak an order in.

Wow, that’s a surprisingly rude way for the manager to say that, but he was likely just trying to keep you away from the NBA bubble. While not in the blue fence bubble, the new walkway’s entrance is in the NBA facility area, not the standard guest area. Even if completed, this walkway is going to stay closed until the NBA are gone.

Interesting. Looks like there will be an operator. I wondered if it would be automated somehow. But, a live operator makes the most sense safety-wise.

They only need an operator when they need to open the canal. My guess is they will have one operator and a CM either side to stop the guests.

Like the one in Epcot, This bridge will only need to be opened a couple of times a day.

This will go far in the interim to spread out crowds coming to MK from the lagoon resorts. Well, that's if they have enough bookings at GF.

The GF is currently closed except for the villas. I doubt the walkway will open until the GF is opened up for regular resort guests.

So what are the white panels in pictures 5&6? Is it the same as the fencing along the access road in #4?

Certainly seems from #1-3 that they are just landscaping now along the path. But there must still be quite a bit of work to do with the fixed bridge judging by all the cars.

Good progress though. I would think this could open once GF re-opens fully.

They are elevated walkway panels and railings.
