It looks like they are starting on the permanent wall by Mama Melrose to block out SWL. From Brioreconstruct:

Caught this detail in one of BlogMickey's recent updates on the exit for Muppetvision:

Anyone able to get a closeup square-on shot of the new logo on the garbage cans? Looks like we might be losing the Chinese Theatre visual iconography parkwide, not just on the "historic district" signs. :-(

These are just the trash cans in the grand avenue area. This has nothing to do with parkwide changes this is simply thematic continuity within the new area.

Good - the rest of the motif is the same as the old cans. And they have changed the logo parkwide once before (removed the Earful Tower), so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility.

Remember the new area is not set in Hollywood but rather downtown LA, thus the change.

Photo update as of Thursday, November 9, 2017. The screen fence between Grand Avenue and Tatooine Traders has been removed, revealing the new landscaping to hide Tatoonie Traders from Grand Avenue.

The screen fence near Sci-Fi Dine-In and Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams has been removed, revealing the new tan pavement and updated landscaping. (I would suspect tan pavement retains less heat than black pavement.) This area compliments the new landscaping along Grand Avenue.

The construction supports have been removed from inside the tunnel to Star Wars Land, and you can see daylight around the corner.

A view of the wall to the right of the tunnel. The trees that used to obscure this view have been removed.

Thanks for the photos.

Even though it's been said, I gotta say it, it's so weird to see Star Tours getting a bit of validating landscaping while right over there is Galaxy's Edge being built. It's like if Walt spruced up the Viewliner station while also building the Monorail!

Great photos!

I wonder why the tan pavement.
Also wondering up until where they plan on using it

Black pavement absorbs heat and then releases it into the area, which is why cities seem so much hotter than other areas. Tan pavement reflects the sun and doesn't absorb the heat, keeping the area cooler. This is actually a really smart move on Disney's part. Epcot and especially AK could use some efficient paving like this. :)
