Okay as many of you know I'm supposed to graduate this year in June. Therefore I have been in the process of trying to apply to graduate school all over the country. Problem is.. the applications process is giving me a headache. It has been 4 years since I wrote the personal statements for entrance into my undergrad university and I forgot how to write them and make them make sense. Can someone .. PLEASE help me? lol...
This is my introduction.. I need to catch the reader's attention and make them read further.. does it make any sense to you?
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." ~Walt Disney
When they are younger many children say that they want to “change the world” when they “grow up” yet there are few of these kids who grow up stilling feeling the need to “change the world” for the better. Today’s society can lead to a cynicism that removes the ideals of ones childhood from a person’s future endeavors. I have always fought to hold on to the ideals that I had as a child because it is my belief that the childlike innocent that we hold when we are young is one of the few hopes we have for improving the future for our own children. One of the ways I keep a firm grasp on these ideals is through the belief that if I want something hard enough and if I work toward that goal I will ultimately achieve it. This belief and the childlike determination to change the world are what have kept me writing since I was a young child. I always believed that, somehow, through my writing I could change the way people think, view the world or perceive certain situations. When I was younger I believed I could do this through just my meager attempts at poetry but now as an adult I realize that I have before me a stronger tool to fight the negative attitudes of the world, journalism.
