Hi guys I'm pretty new to these boards. I registered awhile ago but never really posted anything. I've been reading a lot and you all seem like a bunch of nice folks ...My name's Carl and I'm 18. I live in South Florida and I will soon live in Orlando at UCF. Well aside from that, I'm going to Grad Night in April and I was wondering how it was? Has anybody been to it or anything? I know they have musical guests and that we're there from like 8PM to 5AM or something like that and most of the rides are open, but does anything else go on? Thanks a lot guys.

welcome to the boards

two years ago there were many nude girls and flashers when I stayed at the polynesian resort. many girls made love on the beaches right in public. Drunk I suppose?

I was a chaperone at one of the nights last year, and it was a complete nightmare. It poured and thundered all night, and Disney had a zero rain plan. We even had to walk to our bus from the Monorail station at the TTC, they did not have trams running.

I would never volunteer to chaperone it again

I was a CP last spring and had the opportunity to work several Grad Nights. For the most part, it was pretty tame. CM's are on alert to look out for people wandering off in pairs(or trios in some cases) and sneaking away to places they shouldnt be. They try to do a good job of making sure no one brings in alcohol or drugs but I know some of it does get through. I had to turn in a couple kids last year who had been drinking. My guess is you'll have a good time. There is a lot to do and people to meet. They also bring in bands & pop stars to perform, most of whom are semi well known. I think it shouldnt be open as late because most of the teens are exhausted by 2. Main Street is just completely covered with sleeping kids near the end of the night.

Yeah a lot of the kids are pretty lame this year about bringing drugs and alcohol in. Hopefully they all get caught. Also, a lot of kids are real mad because our school got "stuck" with grad night while the other high school in this area gets to go to grad bash (held by Islands of Adventures). Kind of a bummer because I love WDW but so many other kids think it's so boring.

Also, I don't know if this is true, but a lot of people have told me that a high school around here isn't allowed to go to Grad Night because a couple of the students threw "Mickey" into the moat. I don't know if thats really the reason, but I do know for a fact theyre not allowed to go for a pretty long while.

Well, I graduated in 1985, so my experience is sure to be different than yours, but I can give you some tips.

--> Try to get some sleep on the bus ride up. It's a long night in the parks.

--> Wear comfortable shoes.

--> If you've got a group of friends, try to stick together. My grad night was absolutely packed, and if you lose someone, you might not find them for a while.

--> Bring a camera! I forgot to bring one and still regret it to this day.

--> Have fun! I've never met anyone who didn't enjoy Grad Night.

Welcome to the boards!

Grad Nite is nothing short of interesting...so if you can handle the dress code, the hours, and the crowds (who sometimes do weird things) you'll have a great time....

Then again you could skip the whole grad nite thing, and just do a trip on your own (with family or a couple of friends)...after all whats better a night, or multi days (thats what I did, and I had a blast)...

Thanks for the tip (and thanks to Gary too). I am excited to go since it's with my friends. Last time I visited WDW with my friends we went for 3 days and we did so much in so little time. I think we rode just about every ride at MK before 1PM which is something that would never happen with my family

Since my high school was in Texas, they did this thing called "Project Graduation" where it's a big "party" in the school. They do a lock in though, and you can't leave till the morning. Yeah, just what I want after I graduate(they did this the night of graduation)...to be locked in the school with all the people I disliked. No thanks!

yeah so there was so so much teen nudity when i was there for Grad Night '99. I ended up on the beach at The Beach Club, nude and with my BF. I haven't had an alcoholic beverage in my whole life. Grad Night was just fun

Just out of curiosity, when is grad night this year? Also this may be stupid, but does your whole school have to be participating/signed up in order to go? Thanks!

For the above post:

When is Grad Nite?
I believe it's around the beginning of May

what rides are open during grad nite?
here are some examples: splash, btm, haunted mansion, buzz lightyear, space mountain

There is usually some celebrities(jessica simpson, Britney Spears) that perform at cinderella's castle

Does the whole school have to participate to do Grad Nite?

I don't think your school does, unless they are starting to. You pay for your own ticket so I say your whole school doesn't have to
