News Gotta Pay2Play: Paid FP on the way!

There is a huge demand for premium experiences. Disney has an entire department to dream up new programs and implement them. Like it or not, there are people willing to pay for almost anything if you offer it.

It's a shame that the company has forgotten that just because you can't... doesn't mean you should... :/

Raise the price of theme park admission? They (TDO/TWDC) have already been doing that, and are on record as wanting to do it to reduce the number of people visiting the parks. They'd love to have a few million people less visiting MK but paying an additional $20-$50 (or more) per head to get in, plus paying more for food, merchandise, extras, etc.
And will continue to raise the price yearly. That’s the only guarantee we all know will happen. That’s not doing what everyone expected it to do. People are still paying and the crowds get bigger every year.

Ugh. Aready it sometimes feels like the standby line doesn't move at all. And I am one of the three people in the world that doesn't have a smartphone, so I get fewer fastpasses than other people. At a certain point it starts to feel like if you don't have a fastpass, it's not even worth waiting. I find myself wandering around trying to find reasonable wait times and then just riding the Peoplemover or Living with the Land over and over.

I'm thinking they could really increase prices in the next year or two. I'm not talking the small annual increases they've had for years. I think they're going to swing for the fences - a $20-$25 increase per day, at a minimum. I don't think $140 (value) to $160 (peak) per day for a one-day ticket is out of the question within 2 years. Think about it - Crowds are continuing to increase at MK, plus they can rationalize it by saying, "We have SW:GE opening soon!". That alone is going to be a gold mine, and a significantly higher ticket price has the added benefit of (potentially) reducing crowds, which then means they can lower staffing levels to boot. Add in any monetization they are able to do with FastPasses, and P&R will be propping up the financials for years to come, as long as the rubes continue to max out the credit cards for their "MAGICAL!!! Disney World vacation!!!!". I certainly am not hoping for a price increase that drastic, but I think it's more likely to happen than not. Sadly, my days of regularly visiting WDW would be over at those price points. :(

Scary thought - Imagine what a recession in the next 2-3 years would mean to WDW... *shudder*

Speculation: Disney will be gradually reducing "free" availability and expanding this all the way to the 50th is going to happen. It'll open up to everyone eventually, but be VERY expensive based on the season. Discounts for those in Disney resorts, of course. To gauge likely pricing take Universal's express prices and double it... more for peak times (and also remove unlimited use aspect)
I'm sorry but WDW needs to fix their monorails, don't close the child centers and get MK a Night Parade ASAP before they charge $50 for more FP! FPs are Free!!! WDW is losing it this week!

The rumor tag on this post will need to be removed very soon.

http://www.wftv.com/news/local/walt...guests-to-buy-additional-fastpasses/680857608

In short, allows reservations 90 days in advance, and adds a freebie for nighttime show (not sure what that means for MK). $50 per person per day.

The service will require a 3-day minimum and will only be available to club-level resort guests, the cast members said.

Club level is a premium floor at Walt Disney World Deluxe resorts that offers a lounge stocked with food and concierge service.

The additional, paid FastPasses can be booked as far out as 90 days in advance, the cast members said, instead of the usual 60 days for resort guests, offering access to the most popular attractions before anyone else.

Club-level resort guests will also receive a pass for premium, reserved seating for any of the nighttime spectaculars offered at any of the four parks, the cast members said.

Walt Disney World plans to roll out the pilot program Friday.

WDW's out of their stinkin' minds.

Concierge guests are ALREADY PAYING ~$200 more per day to stay in a resort... why on earth would they charge them for the 3 additional FPs???

Because concierge (notice they can't get away with calling it that anymore) fall for the prices for almost nothing anyway..so why not try to bleed them?

Biggest hoax in wdw...and That's an impressive title, for sure...

I wonder if you can use this on a day by day basis during your trip. I wouldn't be interested in doing it for my whole vacation, but I could see how spending $200 for the 4 of us during one day of our trip to hit all the rides in Animal Kingdom on one morning so we could go do other things in the afternoon could be attractive. I just wouldn't want to do it every day.

You are forgetting that the Fastpass+ system requires that each Fastpass+ reservation is at least 1 hour apart. So in the best case scenario, if you plan 60 days out you might be able to get all six reservations back-to-back starting at 9am opening...and you still won't be done till around 2:10-2:30 depending on the ride. This will not really be a time saving device since the current system allows you to book your 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, etc Fastpass+ reservations one at a time...and for FREE mind you. I have literally used this before during the off-season to get on 3 semi-popular rides in less than an hour.

The only benefit for this pay-to-get-more-Fastpass+ reservations option is that people who are used to paying others to do things for them can now get 6 Fastpass+ reservations instead of 3. You know it's too "commoner" of them to book additional reservations on their smart phone themselves. Dear Lord....the HORROR! They will not be booking their Fastpass+ reservations. They will be paying someone to do it along with making all of their other vacation arrangements. What is $50 to them? That's a tip to their chauffeur.

They pay for ones are 90, not 60 days in advance, that is another benefit to them.

I can't for the life of me understand why this isn't offered to everyone? Makes no sense.

It just seems so...gross...that the chance to purchase - key word here - extra fast passes is only offered to Club Level guests.

Even if I wanted to frivolously spend the money, I'm not sure I understand if this would even make a difference to how my days played out. Unless they are three carte-blanche anytime/any attraction goes FP? Which pretty much only matters for FoP at this point.

If it's just a 4/5/6th FP within the current pre-booking conventions I actually thinks it's worse.
