You're pretty close to dead on.

Disney values APs...and Florida residents...mostly when the economy tanks and they can't name/escalate their prices.

They are an afterthought in Orlando and a "necessary evil" in Anaheim.

Dvc receives slightly more preferential treatment becuse they KNOW they're coming no matter what. But if new sales ever tank...they will begin to be marginalized as well.

I think many DVC members would argue that they've already been marginalized for years... ;) Current DVC management is trying to make members feel "valued" but there's a lot of ill-will they have to overcome.

There is probably more demand for this than us non-club level folks realize. If someone is already forking out the extra bucks for club level, whats another $50 per family member to skip slow lines full of normies.
Agreed. The 'Club Level' Class prefers to rub elbows as little as possible with the Hoi Polloi !

Florida could do a better job at recognizing APs. Disneyland simply can't do much since there are literally millions of APs. The concession to this contingent is the frequent "plussing" and seasonal overlays of attractions, which Florida just doesn't need to do, plus the one-time events they frequently have.

Florida does a fine job of recognizing APs, you can hardly see a car here that's not advertising that their family has one. Disney World on the other hand. :hilarious:

APs already get massively discounted ticket rates and free parking.

The people getting screwed are the tourists saving up to buy those week-long tickets for their family's trip

Imagine that revenue stream -- millions of APs at $600, $800 or a $1000 dollars each -- with little or no expenditure committed to their support other than opening the parks...

That's a business model to die for!

As a point of clarity, MaxPass works with the existing paper Fastpass system, it just allows you to book on your phone. It also reduces the refresh time to an hour and thirty minutes from two hours on paper fastpasses.
I like the sound of the Maxpass system. The option to only book while in the parks is better than the current FP+ setup where your entire morning is pre-planned before even arriving at WDW. The addition of photopass explains the $10 per day cost.

Nope, DVC members have been marginalized for a couple years now, to the point of reservations 'disappearing' at peak times like the Marathon. Likely because room needed last minute for a VIP. It was one of those experiences which caused us to finally sell DVC.

Yes we got a room but it was a significant downgrade and it cost the same number of points and MS would not budge on that point 'take the room or forfeit points were only options'.

what's the value of DVC if premium rooms like GV's are up for auction and your 'reservation' is well that room or some rooms that sleep an equivalent amount of people.

I think you're gone a bridge too far on this...

There's just times you don't bother to try and book anymore. That was inevitable once they sold too many contacts...it's just numbers.

I don't think they've abandoned catering to dvc altogether...but it will happen. I got a discounted AP, paid for my room 12 years ago and can get tables in wonderland...I'm good

Do you want to fill us in? You were downgraded but for the same no. of points? From what to what? And this was at check-in? I've heard of some people not getting their rooms and being moved either to other rooms/resorts or even suites. But with points suitably adjusted, including some borrowed points put back into their original use year, (similar to the hurricane rebooking).

Here's the flaw in that argument - we had a confirmed reservation for a GV during the 2017 Marathon, what we got was 3 rooms in the GF. Not the experience we booked.

So what's a DVC reservation 'worth' if CRO can sell your reservation for more during a popular event.

Yes yes aware of DVC may move you to an 'equivalent' in the event room is not available but as a business traveller equivalent means equal or better class of room. Not an 'equivalent number of beds'

On checking some of the other DVC sites it seems that our experience was not unique and began to happen mid. 2016.

That was the last straw for us and we sold DVC after our last rental contract was fulfilled because as you say its become a numbers game and its going to get worse as time wears on.
