Well I respectfully disagree with the term "benefit"

Your health insurance or vacation is a "benefit" for doing your job...

At wdw...a benefit is transportation, magical express, emh....

Upsells are upsells...if we start crossing the two terms and they get wind of it..."benefits"
Will lead us all to bankruptcy.

Extra options don’t lead to bankruptcy.. people lead themselves to bankruptcy.

Booking room types for certain paid benefits isn’t a new thing. It exists from cruise lines to hotels across the world.
People only freak out when it happens at WDW. Lol

That's just it - I think when those buying this months in advance find out how little "convenience" this actually is (with all the scheduling, how many rides have FP that really don't save you any great deal of time, etc.) they will feel short-changed.
Unless you’re the type who simply loves an upcharge because it makes you feel special. You can even brag about it on social media.

I’m sure that’s why people choose extras. Nothing to due with time efficiency or just to do something different than what they’ve done before.

I think people feel better by claiming the most odd reasons for why people make different decisions than they themselves would make. Never understood why, but it’s mildly amusing.

On the other hand, when it happens at WDW, some folks will find a way to minimize it, no matter how egregious the value proposition is.

Because it’s not egregious to all.
It’s simply one other option that exists. We can take advantage of it, or we can pass. It’s not much different than any other scenario where one may find something attractive, but another person may not.
Myself, I could care less what someone else does on their vacation or with their money.

This happens to be a Disney board...and you get the point.

I don't mind upsells if they are labeled as such...this is a fee to use their ride rationing system...If we're honest...

"Now you can go on rockin roller coaster (19 years old) AND midway mania (10)....more stuff coming in a few years..."

There are few places where "grandstand spending" occurs more than wdw...you have a valid point.

It's pretty easy to find on places such as these...especially "club level" boasters.

Guys, it's three fastpasses to rides plus basically a fastpass to any night time show. So $15 per fast pass, plus a $5 nighttime show fastpass. This has got to be the most asinine argument I've read on these boards. Nobody's point is going to be stronger by adding the five dollars here or there. Stop.

Hopefully those people will fill out the surveys!

It's the precedent that we're debating...not the dollars.

Like when everyone "loved" the dining plan when it was dirt cheap and/Or given away in packages....

No, it’s an optional fee to get additional reservations for rides, Not to use their ride system. It’s labeled as an upsell. There’s no hidden fee here.

Agree to disagree on what this is and who will be using it.

You are framing the discussion in such a way that basically, we might as well not discuss anything on these boards about WDW and how they do business.

We are talking about the pros and cons and the details of a product they are offering and the value it may or may not have. Trying to figure out whom the product is meant to appeal to is part of that.

You are acting like we are condemning people and how they spend money - we aren't - we are critiquing WDW and discussing what would lead someone to be able to get the value out of this product, and the logistics behind it. If someone looks at this and says "hey, this is a great idea - sign me up!" that's great for them. I'm not going to argue with them.

Haven't seen any of those yet, though....so it feels like you are defending a straw man here, one whom I wouldn't argue with in the first place, I'd just want to make sure they knew what it was they were getting.

I would say it depends on where it goes...selling to concierge is fine...it really affects no one.

But if it creeps into the "mainstream"? Then yeah...Houston, you know what we got...

All prices are on a slippery slope in disney parks...I don't trust the children...at all.

The dining plan worked to a T...we're all paying a fortune and have to prebook reservations months in advance or they don't even bother having enough waiters for the tables...

But "guests wanted it", right?

Be careful.

Fair enough...

But I noticed you used "fee" and "upsell"...not benefit, no?

You can use all 3 in the same sentence.

Added benefit of being in the Magic Kingdom is the ability to eat at (insert restaurant here).

Additional fee., only made possible if you have admission to begin with.

Added benefit of being in Hollywood Studios on a day that JBJB is showing, is the ability to purchase a dessert party for the show.

Rinse, repeat. Upsells, fees, benefit.

I think Benjamin Franklin had an axiom that fits this situation.

I haven’t seen any “pros” listed by most. More of the same- Omg poor undeserving people are going to mindlessly pay $200 more per night AND now pay $50 for fast passes!
Either out of ignorance, or to brag on social media.
And.,
Omg Disney is going to turn FPs into a full monetary option!!

Chances are, the people who will choose this- aren’t going to do so for either of those reasons.
Chances are also extremely slim that Disney will ever fully monitize the FP system.
Chances are great that these reactions are more of the same over-reactions to every decision that Disney makes.

Lol. Are they supposed to be paid-only options in 2020? If so, tag me.. I’ll be the first to apologize and say I was wrong. My money is on it not happening. :)

I’m still waiting for an update on how horrible the “pet policy” is going and how all heck is breaking lose because of a few dogs..
