Well- we just went in December (03)... a trip organized by my mother, that had too many of our family trying to please everyone. It left me kinda cold. Well- the Summer Dream Maker Package has such great deals, and my job has given me an opening - well I am going 23 - 26 June at the Pop Century, with an added night at the Animal Kingdom Lodge on the 26th...My first trip alone. Have any of you done it by yourself? Any tips? Any body gonna be there the same time ?

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
My solo WDW trip last March was my best WDW trip ever.... I am a pretty independant soul as it is.... Its just great being able to do what YOU want, when YOU want in whatever park you want to on any givin day... without having to worry if somebody else in your group/party is not enjoying themselfs, or is bored... or they dont wanna eat there.... or wants to take the boat instead of the monorail.... etc...

I am almost certain my next trip will be a solo one as well.

Anywhoo... at night after the parks closed.. I usally just headed over to the Boardwalk.... or PI and hung out at the Adventurers Club or the Comedy Warehouse. Good times! :sohappy:

I cannot wait until I can go by myself. It just sounds wonderful!
You'll have to post a trip report when you get back.
Have fun!

Last summer I spent three days alone in WDW. I was meeting some friends who were coming down after me. I must say, I enjoyed parts of being alone - going and doing what YOU want, WHEN YOU want to. But I did miss the camraderie of hanging out with friends/loved ones. Disney (I think) is meant to be shared with people. I don't think I'll be doing the solo thing in WDW again.

But, you know, different strokes for different folks. If you enjoy the quality time alone, go for it.

I haven't gone a trip, or even a day by myself before. But I have walked around the park for a little bit, and it's very boring...You see something funny that the guests do, and you laugh by yourself. It's also a long time that you have to wait for the parade to come around...

This year for my 10th wedding anniversay, my wife and I are going without kids. The plan is she can spend the days at the spa and I'll be off on my own. I can't wait!! I'll be taking the Seas Aqua Tour at the Living Seas and going on rides that my wife and/or kids don't ever want to go on. And then at night we plan on meeting for dinner and an evening together. She's happy, I'm happy. What a better way to spend a vacation!!

Going solo can be fun, but also a humbling expeirence. You are not weighed down by anyone but yourself. But the time spent alone sometimes lets your mind to wonder about yourself. All the good, bad, and great times in your life.

Wow!! I have to say that's the most philosophical post I've ever read here. I think you're right though. You will have a lot of time to yourself so that whole retrospective thing is only natural. Of course I plan on doing a lot of sitting on my a$$ eating crap and people watching and conversation snooping.

Thankx man. I was just pointing that out because sometimes those thoughts ruin the day. Or make it a whole lot of fun, just beware where your thoughts go. It can be depressing, or uplifting.

Been going by myself for years and I LOVE it! No arguments, no schedules, no bickering about what food to eat, just "me" time!

Well, unless, you know, you forget your meds and then your personalities start to argue with one another.

I haven't gone solo but my brother has twice. First time he went to visit a cousin in the college program. He had most of the time by himself and met our cousin for dinner and Poly luau. He said he did more in those 3 days than he did in 7 with the whole group. He also went down for a conference and visited the parks for 3 days when he wasn't conferencing. Again a good time. As someone else mentioned he did miss out on sharing comments etc. with a partner in crime.

I spent 2 days by myself last year while waiting for some friends to come down. I have to say, I LOVED being in the Magic Kingdom by myself. I was like a kid in a candy store, with noone working the register...:slurp: :slurp: :slurp:

However, I can't imagine being there for a whole week by myself. For one simple reason - The nights. I think I'd get lonely after a while walking the Marketplace by myself. Also, I'd feel like a loser eating at Planet Hollywood by myself too.:veryconfu

I love going with a group, with just my spouse, or by myself.
I went by myself twice before because work offered a trip to Orlando, and there was no way I wasn't staying an extra day or two and going to Disney.
You do have to kind of prepare yourself if you are going by yourself, though.
As a man, I got some suspicious looks from park visitors...and it is hard to always eat by yourself all the time. But, it is very calming, very quiet (which I like). You get to do whatever you want, too!
Try to do some planning around where you will eat ( I always did the stands with fast food so I didn't have to sit), what you will ride and see...
As someone said earlier, I would skip a lot of things that you would to wait along time for by yourself...the parade, Fantasmic, etc.
