I'd rather have a crap show than a crap character meet.

I'm actually a little disappointed to hear this! This was the one attraction we didn't get to do that we wanted to do on our trip in July. My son is the biggest Toy Story fan and I read that the Toy Story characters are in that show so we wanted so badly to take him.

When is it closing? Will it still be around in the Spring?

I am proud of our War President. :D

Another JII/Tiki Room/Food Rocks failure. Focusing on "character, character, character" only polarizes the Magic Kingdom, degrades its name, takes away from "show" and "courtesy," and removes all authenticity from previously original wonders.

Perhaps a flower will grow out of the storm. . .

They have Murder Mystery Dinners all over in different cities, but it would not do well at Disney (DL or WDW.) If people wanted to solve a mystery they could either watch Scooby Doo or go in their town or city and go to one. I think they just need something else, probably a character meet and greet.

Actually, The Grosvenor Resort, one of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd in the DTD area has everything themed to Sherlock Holmes. Every Saturday night they have two dinner shows of the "Murderwatch Mystery Theater." It has been running for years and I would think that if it wasn't doing well, they would stop. I do think, however, that Disney possibly wouldn't stick one into a park or Disney owned hotel since there is one in the area already. Also, I love Goofy showing up at the breakfast there dressed as Sherlock Holmes and I have a pretty neat picture of that.

NUMBER 6!!!

Tell me more about this mystery show. I had no idea that that hotel had this event. Tell me about what it is like please( length?, price?, food?) I would like to experience it when I am at Disney next.

but I dont think that Disney gives a ____*t if the grosvenor has a show or not. They wouldnt nessisarily compete with one another, because after all I had no idea that the grosvenor had one?

Well in my own humble opinion, I would rather see anything, except sitting empty, than a gift shop..thats the last thing MK needs.

This is the link for the restaurant at The Grosvenor. It in turn has a link to info on Murderwatch Mystery Theater which is apparently an independent group that does Mystery themed shows all over. For specifics on the one at The Grosvenor, I would suggest calling them directly. Their number is on the same website that you access with the above link and they can tell you price and such, since I haven't done it myself. Mostly because I usually stay until Sunday and want to spend my last night in Orlando at one of the parks.

Instead of a murder mystery, how about a "Who stole Mickey's ______" idea. That would be really fun for the kids, and for those of us who think like kids. You guys are thinking too high tech. What kid would be able to solve a murder?

That's a cool idea VillainFan. However I doubt the MK will get anything of the sort. Prolly the Diamond Horshoe will be, a meet and greet for several years.

Your all wrong. Goofy's Country Dancin' Jamboree took place in Liberty Square, I can even scan the guidemap for proof.

So, basicly, what was this. I wanted to try this out but never got around to it. It wasn't open very long because my guidemap that I have from I believe June 2004 says NEW then the name of the ride and description.

So man, this attraction must of blown.

I still think that a mystery dinner type thing is not for MK. Now I know something like this was mentioned above but possibly a Home On The Rage show / or meet and greet?

Your thoughts?

Just checked my April 2004 guidemap. Your rite, it was in Liberty Square. According to the map not far from the right of the Shootin' Arcade in Frontierland.

By the way my April 2004 guidemap also says NEW! next to Goofy and also NEW! Next to Philhar Magic. By June I don't think it changed.

Dang. Someone check that could be a world record (Attraction opens and closes so fast that disney doesn't have time to change the guidemaps!)

I think it was open for around 5 - 7 months, at the most.
If you are talking about Goofy show it was open for about a year. I rember going to cast previews for it.

Okay Atta83, sorry I was only guessing anyway. The 2004 Unofficial WDW Guide has Goofy in it, so I am kinda lacking in the brain depot today. (I own that guide, and it was published in late 2003!)

Atta's right...the show was open for a about a year. I remember seeing it last August for sure...

Anyway, I think a mystery show would be a neat idea. Let's say, the audience is there to 'see' a regular character show, but something disappeared and the mystery as to where it is needs to be solved. Then after, the audience helps find it, the show can go on with a big finishing number with characters! That's just my idea, though!

but for MK, it would probably have to be a slightly less grisly transgression, like an art theft or leaving a gum wrapper on the ground.

Yes... or lynching a smoker in the smoking area... Oh... wait... that already happens. :lookaroun
