Beginning in the Spring of 2005, Downtown Disneyâ is pleased to announce that it will be adding an exciting new venue to its 120-acre shopping and dining entertainment district at the Walt Disney Worldâ Resort.

A new, expanded Goofy’s Candy Company will be unveiled at this time, featuring an interactive show kitchen filled with unique and tasty confections.

To make room for this new offering, the Disney at Home location will begin a period of refurbishment effective January 3, 2005.

The current Goofy’s Candy Company will continue to operate until approximately a week prior to the opening of the new location. The former location will then undergo a brief refurbishment in preparation for another retail concept.

I like Downtown Disney and this sounds like it will be even better on my next trip..."interactive show kitchen filled with unique and tasty confections" sounds neat!

Does "an interactive show kitchen filled with unique and tasty confections" mean that it'll be set up like a typical candy/fudge shop found in most better malls around the country? You know the ones - behind a shoulder-high glass barrier, they have a marble slab counter with a copper candy kettle next to it, and once or twice a day someone is back there pouring/dipping/etc. something with caramel or chocolate.

Even if it was, Disney always makes stuff like this soooo much better. Have they let you down yet?
No they haven't and probably (hopefully) never will.

Just an observation as to what to expect.

I had a buddy who worked at the Candy Cauldron (that may not be the right name, it's the place with the giant witch dipping an apple on the sign) and one of his jobs was to stand in the window and make different types of candy.

It sounds like Disney at Home will just be reduced in size. Personally, I am fine with this, because they have very few offerings not found in the big stores elsewhere in the parks/resorts. Don't get me wrong. It's a nice shop, but it could be truncated and serve the same purpose.

I also wondered about the show kitchen. I would assume that it would be the same glassed-in kitchen found elsewhere, but wouldn't it be great if they had a kid's chef thing or something were kids could try their hands as well, if not in the kitchen in the shop. I know the Nestle Cookie Chefs at the Land are a big hit. Wishful thinking, I guess...

This may be great... candy makes alot of mojney... and showing them make it and having interactive displays may help more people buy their candy.... now if they charge less for their sour mickey gunnies.... I would walk out with 10 packs that will last for 2 months.... hehe

I only wonder if this will cause Disney at Home to close or only reduce in size... (unless it moves to a new location....)
