Goofy's Brainstormers Project 4

oh, and btw, if we could somehow go with the original plan for imaginations, where it was multistory, that'd be cool... kind of like a climax in teh glass pyramids, sort of like SpE...

and btw, the old imageworks is more or less still upstairs, if thats of use to anyone. like, somethings are moved, but alot of it is still there, waiting to be enjoyed again... :( (much like WoL, too)

wow, i've posted alot in a short span...

sorry, i was just thinking alot more about my snuck in ideas, about inciting people's imaginaions... i'm really liking it.

i dunno, i jsut always felt that it somehow should be able to... maybe somehow we make it a dynamic sort of ride, affected my the guests, maybe through the use of touch screens or other input devices on the vehicles... or maybe invoke senses, or memory, like a mixture of the old and new rides...

i've always been seriously interested in shows or rides that can be affected by the guests, even altering the ride track and course... it's something i keep working on with some of my own ride ideas i tinker with... i jsut figure more immersion or control sometimes gives the guests more enjoyment.

anyway, i think thats the end of my late night rant; see yall in some time.
:)

I noticed something about there being an actualy institute, like teh franklin in philly; what exactly was that about? That'd be something cool to dive into :)

It is cool, in fact I'm taking my students there in a few weeks.

It's an institute dedicated to science, with a big statue of Franklin in the front.

I'm going to be away from the comp until about 10pm tonight. At that time, I will take all of the suggestions, compile them into what I think is a cohesive project, and layout the overview. Then we can break it down into sections for people to work on.

Do you know how Figment had a different outfit in each scene of the 1983 version? We could do that. Is Figment a certain gender? Due to some pictures I have seen, he seems to be both male and female. I want to incorporate that into the ride with my ideas:

Music/Dance: click here (as seen in the Barney episode, Good Job!)
Art: click here
Science: click here

I don't know if I am forgetting any sections. If I am, please PM me.

What do you think?

Here is the overview...

The Imagination Institute presents, Imagination 101

We board a vehicle and travel through the Imagination Institute learning about the various ways we can use and apply our imagination.

In the first room we meet (TBD) who welcomes us and introduces us to our travel companion on our journey, Figment.

In the second room we meet (Famous Artist) who teaches us, and Figment, about color, light, and visual arts.

In the third room we meet Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who teaches us about music, tone, rhythm, and all that fun stuff.

In the fourth room we meet H.G. Wells who tells us about fiction and storytelling.

In the fifth room we meet Thomas Edison who tells us about mixing science and imagination to invent.

In the sixth and final room we meet Walt Disney, who has combined all the various elements together to create worlds and rides like the very one we are on.

We exit the ride and end up in a newly revamped imagination works on the second floor.

Ok... That's seven rooms, not necessarily in the order they will end up in, except the first and last. Should we each pick a room, or should we each pick an element, like dialogue, visual design, what do you prefer?
Thoughts?

i like the overall idea here, but i really have to reiterate, I think we need some sort of interactivity. I mean, imagination is all about getting your hands dirty, creating, thinking, solving, being involved and active in some way....

OMG! what if we somehow used the imageworks at the end as a kind of test, or even like 'homework'... i was thinking how you mentioned it was imagination 101, and i was like, you have to get your hands dirty, and i somehow started thinking, well, thats kind of what the imageworks is for, and they show you how (they being our hosts), and it hit me: imageworks can be akind of testing or experimentation ground; like we tie it in to what was previously used... in a way, it was kind of like that in the original, there was the coloring, moving, music parts, etc, to highlight ways to use imagination.

maybe if there was a way to incorporate what the guests are learning interactively while in the vehicle, and then it carries over to the [imageworks] somehow, for each guest. (as a really simple example, like guests finding their pic at the end of spaceship earth and sending a post card, but a lot better) then they can be tested or somehow work with what theyve learned, and maybe have somthing to show for it; maybe email them a digital book of work, be it arts, sounds, etc, or maybe a personalized disc with such info on it, etc... it IS kodak's launching point, afterall...

so, i hope my train of thot made sense...:p

Ok, here is my thought for interactivity....

On the ride cart you have a panel and in each room, as you learn about the creative process, you have to make selections, which ultimately lead to you creating your very own figment.

In the first room, you learn about brainstorming, how figment was created, and you have to pick 2-4 different animals to combine.

In the Art room you pick 1-3 colors to color the figment.

In the Music room you pick it's singing voice.

In the story room you pick it's personality.

In the invention room you use a machine that brings it to life.

In Walt's room it joins the rest of the others and the characters Walt created.

At the end of the ride you can bring it to different stations to see it in action, maybe some sort of chip/flash drive or maybe like with Spaceship earth, it just keeps the most recent ones in the system and you can recover it after the ride.

I love these ideas so far...the interactive ride capabilities are very cool indeed!

I could see wanting to ride agian immediately so I could create a different chimerical figment each time!

Is it too late for totally random ideas?

I was just thinking how cool it would be if the ride track didn't have to be so linear and on the ground level all the time.

The rooms (and space ) in the original ride was pretty massive...and I was thinking about how a ride vehicle could follow a track that goes up and down and moves in circles over and under certain props and effects in a given room.

(so you can see different hidden gems in the room each time the vehicle winds through a set.)

Also...May I sugest Salvador Dali for the Artist?

One, because he was odd enough looking to be recognizable. :)

Two...his surreal landscapes are instantly recognizable! (think about travelling through a room full of clocks that melt before your eyes!)

Three...his connection with Disney. Maybe somewhere in the room would be a big screen showing bits of his Disney collaboration...the animated film Destino

Here's one more completely random idea.

One of the things that was cool about the original JII was the range of different and highly innovative effects.
Including a projection room tunnel, that was really impressive.

A while back, someone o n these boards mentioned THIS...and how it would be cool if Disney did something similar in it's parks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJSHv_Y7hGg&hd=1

NOT the same show, of course...but something similar utilizing this type of technology.
I think there's enough space in that massive building to house a small dome!

I think this show's storytelling and effects are pretty marvelous.

I'm not sure which room would be best for something like this...but maybe HG Wells...and storytelling?

For the Music section, we could recycle the MMR (Mickey Mouse Revue) animatronics and have them play "One Little Spark."

I also have the lyrics to the new "One Little Spark:"

One little spark of inspiration,
Is at the heart of all creation.
Right at the start of everything that's new,
One little spark lights up for you.

When there's a problem... and I can't solve it
I take the notion, and then revolve it
A touch of science with a dash of Fantasy!!!
And then, “Eureka!” It comes to me

One little mouse, steering a steamboat
Add in Snow White, who loves a dreamboat
And Disneyland, a world inside a railroad
From that one spark, so much has grown!

Imagination, imagination.
A dream can be a dream come true,
With just that spark in me and you.

Mix red and gold from autumn flowers,
Purple and blue from twilight hours.
Green summer hills and rainbows play a part.
A painter's brush, a work of art.

I started out, with just a notion
To travel deep, within the ocean
I dreamed of worlds, like none you've ever seen
And now we have...a submarine!

Some happy songs, some snappy dances.
Costumes and sets, spoofs and romances.
With laughs and tears, and footlights all aglow,
The sparks ignite a brand new show.

What do you think?

The loading area will feature a massive mural showcasing several inventors and their inventions. "Hidden Figments" can also be found on the mural.

Here's an idea for the art scene.

You enter a large space where you pass famous art picture. Surprisingly all of the characters in each painting have been replaced by Figment. As the vehicles pass through massive paintings and color changing sculptures you come across a few leapfrog fountain, similar to the displays outside.

Here's an idea for the finale, utilizing the above mentioned technology.

The vehicle enter a black room where you can't see anything around you. Suddenly, an AA Figment appears and tells you all to use your imaginations hard. A humming pulse surrounds the vehicles and gradually gets louder. All of a sudden everything around you bursts into vibrant colors. You are surrounded by optical illusions, color changing walls, and singing Figments. The roof above is a starry galaxy where many stars come together to form a massive figment projection. The Figment who greeted you before is standing on a large, multicolored pedestal. The exit of the ride has several portraits of famous artists and inventors that you met on your journey lined up on the wall.

 :sohappy: Very good!!! That was definitely an Epcot Center ride. You should be songwriter for the parks.

In the first room we meet (TBD) who welcomes us and introduces us to our travel companion on our journey, Figment. I think we should go with a mde-up professor. I have ideas for a name.

In the second room we meet (Famous Artist) who teaches us, and Figment, about color, light, and visual arts. I say DiVici (SP?) should be our artist.

I think in the song (great job BTW Kermit) when it goes one little spark, and then kinda goes whOOOp! We should have a lightbulb come on over over Figment's head, just a smalll detail.

In the sixth and final room we meet Walt Disney, who has combined all the various elements together to create worlds and rides like the very one we are on. As we progress through this scene,we should have a screen behind Walt that slowly adds Disney characters old and new in a collage type way.

We exit the ride and end up in a newly revamped imagination works on the second floor. I would LOVE to design the post show.

Ok... That's seven rooms, not necessarily in the order they will end up in, except the first and last. Should we each pick a room, or should we each pick an element, like dialogue, visual design, what do you prefer?

I defiantely think we should each choose a room, and do everything for it. I could do the Walt room and the first room.

also,responses in bold.

I'm loving the interactive abilities. I assume through touch screens? I also think that whoever we choose as our Dremafinder-like figure should follow us through the ride in his/her version of Dreamfinder's vehicle....

Oh,and my mind is running absolutely wild with ideas for the first and last scenes!:sohappy::lol:
