Are you sure there's enough space to wedge the restaurant in between Voyage of The Little Mermaid and the Magic Of Disney Animation. It looks like a very small gap to me. Unless we knock down the back of the Little Mermaid building. The restrooms that are already there would have to be removed.

Wouldn't it be better here: http://yfrog.com/i3screenshot20100227at100p

Then there is more space for an entrance and loads of space to build on the flat roof of Disney Animation building.

Yes, it would be better there.

For a menu item, we could do Mickey's Pan Pizza (pan pizza shaped like Mickey's head).

Chrononymous, for the drawing, I was wondering if you wanted to do it elevation style? In other words,a head-on view of the building that shows it's features and details. I can get expamples if needed.

So,the first floor would be a semi-circle round glass area below a rectangular building for the dining areas. Both floors have a round area on the front,so the round area would scale the whole building and contain elevators and rception areas. The building would use cream, green and terracotta, like the rest if the area.

Also note the first floor would be just the size of the semi-circle that scales the building. The glass area would be in the center of the building.

If you dint understand anything, let me know.

Afternoon folks,

Sorry I've been less active in posting the last two days, but I have been fighting off food poisoning. So as you can imagine, I have not been able to get as much work done on the menu as I had hoped. The idea of food makes me sick to my stomach right now.

Here's what I have so far though.

Lunch- Downstairs, I think we should have sadnwhiches named after different early animation stars. A Mickey could be a grilled cheese sandwhich. A Chip & DAle could be a fluffer nutter. Those kinds of things.

I am losing it, I will be on later to post more.

I can finish that off:

Minnie - PB&J
Donald - Egg Salad Sandwich
Goofy - Bologna (?) & Cheese
Pluto - Hot Dog (sometimes considered a sandwich)
Oswald - Sloppy Joe

I was also thinking that you should choose what type of bread your sandwich will be on.

What do you think?
:D

Ok...I am not sure I understand exactly...because I don't think I get the round aspect of the buliding.

Would there be a glass floor? Or is the semi round glass area in the center of each dining floor? Or is the dining floor itself??

I'm so sorry I am confused!

I don't do architectural drawings all that well! But I am willing to give it a shot!

Maybe if you just drew a rough sketch of what you are thinking...and I can redefine and detail it?

I started playing around with drawing the interiors (thinking about things like colors, lighting, carpet, linens.)

One thing was readily apparent...I can't make the drafting table work as an elegant dining table.
And glass and wood don't really work all that well either, because then there would need some sort of placemat, or table linen.

Some things I was playing with...the tables are round, with double linens in both of the dining areas (to tie the theme of elegance together)
I designed some chairs based on brooms from Fantasia.
I designed some glassware, and tableware as well...

But as I was trying to do the Toon Room, based on animated movie themes...it has started to become more themey....and maybe a little less elegant. Which may be good thing or a bad thing...I dunno.

I will try and put up the sketches that i have as soon as I color them...so you can see what I mean.

Sorry...I have to be out of town tomorrow and Monday...at a convention (though it's a Halloween expo, so at least it will be fun!) but I don't know when I will get a chance tomorrow to be online...so I have no choice but to work out everything tonight!

I have nothing but an app on my iPod for a sketch, that's the best I could do. The part in the middle would be round and glass. There'd be other windows in the rectangular building. I hope that helps. That is a rough and terrible example of an elevation. Similar to what you did for us before, with the details and everything, but with the area we are putting it in,to do an image like you dId it last time may not work out. If you don't undestrand,I can do a little better on the computer tomorrow.

Everything else sounds good to me.

If you missed it,Fractal has had issues and not much time to work on the menu.

I'm hoping to hear from him soon,we'll see where we ate at tomorrow morning, but if need be,is there someone we can rely on to have a menu posted similar to what we already have posted from him?

Please reply ASAP.

I might be able to do the menu as well...let me see though, as I may be pullin' an all nighter on this!

My server can't find your link, Vacationer...maybe there's another way you can send it to me directly?

Ok...sketches...

This is the Hyperion intrerior. I tried to go with Fractal's idea of blue and marble, and Vacationer's idea of wood and glass. The wood is the chairs (modled on the broomsticks from Fantasia)
The ceiling is domed and has art glass paintbrush and recessed lighting with small fiber optic twinkes, that burst in color.

the cells on the wall are of animation stars...some of which move.

The back wall was empty...so I though wouldn't it be cool if it was one large LED screen, that slowly moved throughout dinner? I made it the Pastoral scene from Fantasia.
I didn't know what to do with the carpet...other than plush!
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/album.php?albumid=979&pictureid=12927

The second sketch, I didn't have a chance to really color...is the ink and paint room.
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/picture.php?albumid=979&pictureid=12928

Here you can kind of see a similar vibe to upstairs...only no straight angles, as it's been built for toons! The themes show Alice on the left, Pinocchio on the right, with bambi and Dumbo in the room beyond.

I was thinking od the toon idea that everything comes alive, so the litlle displays ont he tables would move every once in a while...Pinnochio puppet would dance and sing"I got no strings", while the living flowers on the Alice table would talk.
Maybe the cell characters would come alive and greet diners as well.

The carpet was meant to look like a film strip, the walls would also have the twinkling fibre optics that would burst when things are about to happen on the tables.

Here's the glassware...Mickey crystal...(although I imagine other characters on them as well...) and some toon silverware
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/album.php?albumid=979&pictureid=12929

and here's a bit of the fantasia broom chair...
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/picture.php?albumid=979&pictureid=12930

By the way...you don't have to use these pics...they were just ideas that I had that I wanted to get down on paper!

Nice work! Sorry I haven't been active, I've got serious revision to do ahead of some big exams this coming week.

Here's a sample lunch menu that would be called Laugh-O-Gram Lunches, based on the early Walt Disney shorts:

Appetizers:

Little Red Riding Soup: Tomato soup with a garnish that's sure to please Granny
Jack and the Beanstalk: Fe fi fo fum, I smell a delicious magic bean soup!
Fairy Godmother's Pumpkin Soup

Entrees:

Goldie Locks and The Three Bears: Saute potatoes, oven dried vegetables and grilled rib eye steak that's not too rare, not too cooked, but just right!
The Four Musicians Of Bremen: Sauerbraten, a German classic and a favourite in Bremen
Puss In Boots: Grilled Atlantic salmon, as with all cats, Puss in Boots loves fish!
Cinderella's Royal Meal: Roast Lamb Chops with roasted Fingerling potatoes, vegetable ragout, and drizzled with a herb pesto

Desserts:

Tommy Tucker's Tooth: Chocolate Gateau perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth, just remember to brush your teeth afterwards
The Glass Slipper: Strawberry cheesecake, a treat that any Princess can fit in

This is just a sample of the menu. Then Chrononymous' menu could be the dinner menu.

One other thing is I've though about the earlier idea of having screens on the tables so you can interact with the characters and I don't really think it would work, especially in a upscale restaurant like this. It's probably best to stick to moving and still pictures, films etc on the walls, maybe you could interact with them every now and then. How about in the toon rooms that are themed to different films there could be pretend windows looking out into the world of that film and characters may come by, like the windows on the new Disney Cruise line ship. Like this.
For instance when you're eating in the Alice section, there is a virtual window looking into Wonderland and every now and then the Cheshire Cat would appear and smile at you, or the White Rabbit would hurry past. In the Dumbo section is a window looking out on a normal countryside scene, but every couple of minutes Dumbo suddenly flies past!

And a few last questions. Could there be character dining in the Ink and Paint Room at lunch? And are kids allowed into the Hyperion Room? Have we even settled on a location yet? :D

Nice! I like the idea of that being the lunch menu! Both floors I assume?

I like your idea for the toon room!

So we would have:

The backlit images of characters
Your idea of the windows
Colors from the film

Remember to have all ideas in at 3:45.

We could have the chaacters roam the rooms at lunch and dinner

We have decided on location, look at the last few pages, somebody posted an image,it would be on the left side of the courtyard.
