Goofy's Brainstormers Project 2

Sorry I've been away- time difference awkwardness. It's good to see we've gone with Walt's Place. For the toon floor will it be themed to just general toons, Roger Rabbit, Walt films or Mickey/Oswald shorts. I still don't have a clear picture of this floor. I don't think we should go with Roger Rabbit, these days no one knows who he is! I think the floor dedicated to the era of Disney shorts would be good; with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and maybe Osward, Clarabelle Cow etc.

Or have I mis-read something and gone in the completely wrong direction?

I love the idea of AN ink and paint club, my only concern is that the type of entertainment that took place in the THE ink and paintclub in Roger Rabbit, was much more adult, not kid friendly.

Like I said earlier, if anyone wants to chat in real time, send me an IM, Fractal514 on AIM. I'm surprised this website doesn't have a chat room..

As I put the menu together, I'm going to try to have a mix of elegant and fun. If anyone has suggestions for things like Minnie's Mac and Cheese, let me know.

I think I know what you are talking about. I think the Ink & Paint Club was where Donald and daffy Duck did those dueling pianos. Am I right?

As to make it kid-friendly, we could have Disney Trivia Nights on Fridays instead of dueling pianos and Jessica Rabbit. The question would be ones that both kids and adults alike would know.

What do you think?

The Walt- Chili and Beans served with Soda Crackers and Tomato Juice

Walt's favorite meal is served up just the way he liked it. Who knows what wonderful things you might dream up after enjoying a bowl!

CharlieD...I think we have decided against using Roger Rabbit, but still keeping with the idea of a Toontown, where Walt's old pals hang out and eat!

The more kid and family oriented space would have small alcoves/rooms decorated in the color schemes of several popular and early animated movies, but still retain an elegance in the linens, and glassware. The silverware stems have faces.

Cells on the wall would be like signed portraits of all the early toon stars...and some of them would come alive, and move in their frames.

Maybe there are some other toon surprises in the chairs that make cartoon noises, and the table centerpieces that talk during dinner.

Upstairs, in the Hyperion room, is a more adult oriented elegant dining room, which continues a similar color scheme from downstairs, but is more open. There are still cells on the walls, and maybe giant oversized art glass pieces on the ceiling that represent paint brushes, and other animators tools. Real crystal and silverware up here make it feel like you are an executive with the early Disney company, meeting Walt himself for a drink.

I think that's where we are...does anyone want to add anything to this?

I think we were also talking about a new old school toon character who is the hapless waiter (who would be the star of Sid's movie) Does anyone want to tackle the design of him?

Could we do a Living Character Initiative thing where the pictures on the walls have the classic characters and every now and then the characters suddenly talk to you. Or they could walk in and out of other pictures and interact with each other whilst you are eating.

So we're going to have different rooms themed to different films on the toon floor?

Early Disney animation suggestions:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Pinocchio
Fantasia
Dumbo
Bambi
Cinderella
Alice In Wonderland
Peter Pan
Lady and the Tramp
Sleeping Beauty
101 Dalmations
The Sword In The Stone

All of these animations were made in Walt's lifetime so I presume any of these films could be used for the restaurant.

In the toon section every table could have it's own personality. In each separate room the tables could be named after characters from the film eg. a table each for the seven dwarves, all characters in Alice in Wonderland, the animals in Bambi, all the characters in Peter Pan- and for 101 Dalmations, well there's plenty of choice there.

Do we need to make an entire menu Fractal? Or just a sampling of the entrees?

I would say 8-10 items. but I don't really know...

I thought of a couple things for your menu...

Flowers and Trees...Steamed broccoli and haricot vert

The Three Caballeros...Turkey tenderloin, Brazillian steak churassco, and Mexican Swordfish with Mole

Here's a little idea of mine;

Have interactive tables where animated characters can communicate with you. They would act as touch-screens in which you could draw and animate your own designs as you wait for your meal.

Also, maybe have pictures of animated characters and films hanging on the walls. At random, the pictures will come to life and play a small scene from the movie the picture is representing.

Great idea! We could add that it could be adapted in the future for RFID.

Or you could dine with a character. Each table is dedicated to a different character who would appear in a touch screen display that would act as the table centepiece. The character would interact with guests whilst they waited for their food. In the lobby guests would be asked who they would like to eat with and the kids would ask to eat with Snow White, Tinkerbell or Sorcerer Mickey for example then they would be directed to the table of their choice. That way Walt's Place would truely be a restaurant where toons and guests socialize and dine together.
