Sorry I have not been here, not feeling well. I honestly think we can't build more than 2 floors. You be able to see it in too many places. I vote lobby at ground level, then toon area, then elegant, connected by elevator.

What did you think of having rooms based off Walt's films?

I think we're in agreement about the number of floors, but I phrased it differently. It would be a total of three floors, the first at ground level, and then leading up to the first dining room, then up to a second dining room, which would, technically, but the 3rd floor, the 2nd not on the ground.

I think having the different themes would work well in the executives room, if it were done elegantly, and maybe a sort of art museum feel, if that makes sense. Very clean and elegant.

I think having rooms based on animated films might be a little too much...but then maybe I just need an example or two?

Tell us what you have in mind Vacationer!

And would we stick to early films that Walt actually had a hand in...or include later ones?

Some more random ideas from me...

I was trying to think about how to decorate in an elegant way, that still ties in with Animation. Like if there was any tool or machine used in early animation that would be a nice focal point or somehting.

I could really only come up with paintbrushes and pen and ink...Oversized on the ceiling maybe, made of blown art glass or crystal.
(multi plane cameras just don't cut it on the elegant front!)

Something else I had in mind...what if the pics of famous toons on the walls...looked like old painted cells...but they occasionally moved? like Mickey turns and waves every half hour from his spot above the table.

For the elegant part,we should consider inspiration from the Walt Disney Signiture collection on Disney store.com.

Chron, for the films I was thinking just Walt ones.

Examples (all rooms include paintings of characters, different shades of colors).

Jungle Book-Greens and browns.
Pinochio-Red,Blue,White,Yellow
Cinderella-Blue
Snow White-Yellow
Oswald,Mickey-Black and White

The colors would be common colors on characters and scenes. If done right,it could be like DCL dining, elegant, but still "Disney".

I think the blown glass paint brushes would fit on the fancy floor.

Were you thinking of the cells for the toon part? That'd be good! We could base the tables in both parts off drafting tables.

Do you think we can have a final idea tomorrow? The reason I say this is because I think we need Saturday and Sunday for menus andto give time for images.

For the pictures, I think it should be like sardi's, or the brown derby

http://raesrefuge.com/Rae/Images/NYC/RaeSardis.jpg

I think pretty much every single animated character from disney movies should be included with a portrait. And yes, it would be awesome if some of them were done as video screens that moved or interacted or talked occasionally.

I do like the idea of make the dining rooms upstairs color themed to a movie. Perhaps we should select a still or two from one of the films to have as a centerpiece to draw inspiration from?

BTW... should we just assume that we are doing Walt's Place at this point?

Yes. Assume Walt's Place with:

-2 Floors Dining Floors
-Lobby at ground
-Toony yet elegant in middle
-Fancier on top

Additional Ideas:

I think only the toon floor should serve kids meals.

I like the idea if including all characters in toon floor. I think we should have select characters with their own rooms, but all would be included in the elevator/reception area.

I think character images should be palstic backlit,or screens. Maybe alittle bit of both in each room.

Well, I have been making that assumption, based on what has the most posts here! Though I am not the team leader, my vote is to continue to design this idea!

I would really love it if I could work on the menu, as a foodie, and someone who goes to WDW for the food, I would just love to take a stab at it.

I envision some basic items available on both menus, and a few items only available on one floor

For example... Minnie's Mac and Cheese (A Favorite of Mickey's) is only available on the Toon Floor. Hyperion Cheese Soufle, would only be served on the third floor.

BTW, I think we need names for the two floors, how about The Hyperion Room for the upscale?

oh cool...looks liek our leader has spoken!

Ok...so I like that there are two areas, or floors, tied together with a single idea...an elegant animation restaurant. Only one floor has a kind of screwy elegance.

I don't know if I agree that kid's meals should only be served in one area...unless it's clear that one section is for adults only. But can we do that?

I always wondered...Is Victoria and Alberts an adults only joint? and can we conceivably have such a place in the theme park?

I do think families should be allowed to eat in either space...but I really think most families with kids would prefer to eat in the toon dining area(where strange stuff occasionally occurs!)

Go for it on the menu! Don't forget details! I don't think we need breakfast. But make sure this is some variation in lunch and dinner. Dint forget drinks, desserts and kids menus(only toon floor?)

I was also thinking either Hyperion, or Buena Vista too.

I really do like the Hyperion Room.

It has a nice ring to it!

Or what about the Buena Vista club?

and I like the Ink and Paint club for the toon space.

How many rooms do each of these floors have? Are they small intimate spaces...or is that only "upstairs?"

Most restaurants and big open and airey to accomadate more tables and guests.
The color scheme/theme rooms would also work if they are done as corners, and walls.

Victoria and Alberts is adult only.

I did think it wouldn't work in a theme park. I think you are right. Families will be drawn to the toon floor.

I was thinking,Buena Vista/Hyperion more open,Ink and Paint (Nice!) would be separate rooms devoted to select films.

Ok gotcha! I was thinking the separate rooms themes was for the more upscale place...but it definitely works better for the toony floor!

Now I'm on the same page! :D

I love the idea of AN ink and paint club, my only concern is that the type of entertainment that took place in the THE ink and paintclub in Roger Rabbit, was much more adult, not kid friendly.

Like I said earlier, if anyone wants to chat in real time, send me an IM, Fractal514 on AIM. I'm surprised this website doesn't have a chat room..

As I put the menu together, I'm going to try to have a mix of elegant and fun. If anyone has suggestions for things like Minnie's Mac and Cheese, let me know.

I would try to Im...but I can no longer use AIM on this computer (long story)

hmmm...I see your point Fractal...Ink and paint seemed like a nice tie in with both toontown, and early animation...what about the Ink and Paint ROOM instead?

Or simply Toon Room
