Goodbye Eisner!! Hello Mel Gibson??

Folks, take this with a bucket of salt. It's from Page Six of the NY Post.

MEL, THE MAN FOR THE MOUSE?

GOODBYE, Michael Eisner! Hello . . . Mel Gibson? A consortium of mysterious European investors has approached Gibson about a possible takeover of Disney now that Comcast has thrown in the towel, sources told PAGE SIX. "We were very impressed with the way Gibson handled 'The Passion of the Christ,' " one insider said. The group was especially motivated after "The Passion," made for $25 million, raked in almost $600 million. "Gibson has the sensibilities Hollywood needs," says a source close to the star. "He has the right insight to lead a studio. Look at those numbers! Now, that is how to make movies - none of this $120 million nonsense." The backers would want Gibson to kick in a few hundred million of his own money and want him to run Disney if the takeover succeeded. So far, Gibson has kept his cards close to his vest. "He hasn't said yes, and he hasn't said no," said the source. But there is always hope - Gibson is "always looking for something new and interesting to do." However, one person close to Gibson said: "The discussions have not gone anywhere . . . yet." A rep for the "Mad Max" star didn't return calls.

Except Mel Gibson.

but...

a) no group of private investors could rally the funds for a buyout
b) the NYPost is composed of 75% reconstituted toilet papers... the other 25%... well... you figure it out.

I saw this too. While I have to agree that Mr. Eisner's time has come, I'm not too sure about Mr. Gibson. I love his movies and he has a pretty good track record, but he may be too controversial. :veryconfu

Running a movie production is NOT the same as running a company with its hands in everything. I am sorry but there has got to be someone better qualified for this.

I don't want to make this a religious thing, but isn't Mel pretty hardcore Catholic?
Church and State don't mix.
I don't think Church and Disney should either.
(that's my opinion and not meant to offend anyone here)

Id say Mel does a good enough job of promoting his fundamentalist propaganda, without the help of Disney.

My thoughts exactly.

Also, Mel Gibson made a movie. If he does not have the knowledge to run a company, he can not do it. He's just an actor.

Now THERE'S the best idea I've heard all week

Maybe he and Grizz can work on this together. If we raise the Premium membership by a few hundred thousand dollars, we should be able to send them both up! :sohappy:

Don't waste your time trying to explain how hard it is to run a company to most people on these boards. They think finances are unlimited and that you just keep making new rides, etc...

Like mom always used to say, "Money doesn't grow on trees."

Moreover, every here thinks they know corporate dealings in and out.

LOL......I am seeing that more and more on these boards. Alot of assuming is going on when talking about Eisner. I dont really care who repleaces him but I think they need a proven track record in the industry....
