One good thing about the Swan and Dolphin is the location... you can go walking to Epcot, around the Boardwalk, the Yatch and Beach Resorts (and have an ice cream at Beaches and Cream... :slurp: !!!), it's also very near Downtownd Disney and the Disney Studios....
I stayed there two years ago and I really liked it (it's not my favorite resort around property but it was very enjoyable). I also remember a small character breakfast... I think Timon and Tigger were there..

I've been inside the Swan, and it's a very elegant, adult environment.

The shop had a lot of golfing items, so I was guessing that the hotel takes in a lot of business travelers.

It had a fair arcade.

The pool was an olympic sized pool(no theming whatsoever), but not to worry, you can just walk over to the Y&B club pool any time you want.

I would never stay in either one, but if I did, I would spend all my time at the surrounding resorts(Y&B club and the Boardwalk).

Dolphin was very nice....the good things ...the oatmeal-almond soap....I am hooked on it now......when you go... never touch the honor bar.....opt out of the coffee and free generic newspaper at check in....It is not worth 8 bucks a day....walk around the edge of the pond area.. the fish will follow you until you stop then they do too....they are very large bass and seem to expect some kind of hand out....the pools are great! they have an adult lap pool, play pool for kids, regular pool with a waterfall, and my favorite.... hot tub for you and twenty of your close friends.....It's a good place to watch the fireworks over at EPCOT.... the food is too expensive.....(unless you are there for a conference and the company is paying the tab)....Landry's Steak house is VERY expensive.....the character breakfast....gone! The lobby... WOW...In the evening they have some guy playing the piano...Check out the ceiling at the entrance....don't just look up...stop and watch for at least thirty seconds.....The arcade is of and they seem to have the games rigged so they pay off more frequently....my daughter broght home seven teddy bears from the claw machine..have fun.... it is a very nice place......

In the Dolphin there are two restaurants which you can't overpass. The Tubbi's Buffeteria which is really a nice place to dine calmly and away from the day madness, and Dolphin Fountain which I recomend for outstanding desserts and fine music. Just go to these places and you won't regret.

Don't worry, it's not about the hotel you are staying at anyways (Although they are nice, trust me on that)

Like above mentioned, you can walk to the Boardwalk and EPCOT. And you know Disney has a great transportation system, so it's not like you will be stuck at the hotel at all.

That was the really nice thing when I went with my family and I was your age, my parents didn;t mind at all just lettingme loose since they know it is all safe there, the transportation is easy to figure out and there are noworries really at all...

At 15, I really wasn't worried about where I stayed, I was worried about how long it took to get to the park.

Epcot is 5 feet from the front door of the hotel. OK maybe not 5 feet, it's more like 10.

Who cares what color the wallpaper is in your suite, get out there an enjoy the parks.

The only bad thing about the Swan/Dolphin really, is that they are not Disnified. It is very businesslike instead of having Disney things everywhere. But everything else is fine -

the pool is the 2nd best on property I think, it is huge, a lot like the Beach Club pool without the big slide.

In the swan, you can go to the 10th or 11th floor and see the fireworks at Epcot, and if you go up the stairs you are on the roof and its really cool up there.. and I got caught once and they didn't kick me out ;)
There are some other places near the top with cool views if you can find them. Height is good for that at least.

I think they are very pretty hotels.
The location is great too, you can walk to MGM/Fantasia Gardens/Boardwalk/Epcot.

And if you need a haircut, you can always pay them $40.

WigglyWiggins...

Is it really possible to walk to Mgm/Epcot from swan and dolphin?
...absolutely.

The World Showcase entrance to Epcot (between the UK and France pavilions) is about a ten to fifteen minute walk, either down the Boardwalk or by the Yacht and Beach Clubs; Disney Studios, perhaps a fifteen to twenty minute walk beside a canal.

There are also pleasant boat rides to both those parks... handy on they way home after a long day when the walk might not appeal to you, as much.

Thank you for the information and photos...they're great! I've never stayed at the Swan/Dolphin, but you've made me think I should give them a try. I enjoy learning about all of the different hotels available in the WDW area...just another reason I visit here! ;)

I stayed at the Swan for a couple days in November, and I am spending a week there for spring break. Is it "Disney" inside? Not really. But it's a great resort--Lance mentioned the lap pool for those who want to exercise (shudder!), but others here have mentioned the beautiful grotto pool.... there are hammocks down by the water, and the hot tub is amazing.... And yes, you can really walk to Epcot, the Boardwalk, MGM.... It is MUCH nicer than a lot of the off-site resorts, and much more comfortable than the All-Star resorts. I chose the Swan and its luxury over staying in a Disney-owned hotel. Even the Disney operator making the reservation said for what I was looking for, the Swan was a better way to go. I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach, and I know a lot of people here are fans, but I prefer the hotel feel of the Swan over the highway motel style of the Caribbean Beach. That's just me--room service was a priority this trip.

Haven't ever stayed in the Swan or Dolphin but have been in there several times to enjoy the restaurants. They are both very nice hotels. Not as Disneyfied as the others on property, but nothing to sneeze at either!

Landry's Steakhouse was good, but high priced. I like the Yachtmen Steak House in the Yacht Club as well. There is an Italian restaurant called Palio which is very good...I can't remember if it's in the Swan or Dolphin, but I know it's one of them.

You can walk to EPCOT(probably 10-15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk) and once you get over near the Boardwalk, you can also walk to MGM...they have a path now, which is about a 10-15 minutes walk as well.

You will have the BW,YC/BC at your feet...always a great area! You have Fantasia Gardens mini golf across the street. I don't think you'll suffer too much at the Swan or Dolphin!:animwink:
