I'm sure Disney DOll meant Shula's Steakhouse in the Dolphin (former Dolphin coach) instead of Landry's (former Cowboy coach)...And yes "expensive" is a good word for it!

Otherwise, I love the Swan/Dolphin - In fact we just got back from a weekend at the Swan. It may not be as overtly 'Mickey Mouse' as the Disney owned properties, but its sheer proximity (as in right in the middle of WDW) makes up for it.

The grotto pool & its great waterfall are VERY soothing, especially during summer park breaks!

Sure it is!! ;)

I stayed at the Dolphin the first trip I took to Disney 10 years ago and fell in love with it. I agree with duckie in that it isn't "Disney" inside these hotels, but they aren't half bad either. ;) The environment and surroundings I thought were beautiful and I stayed there back before the whole Boardwalk complex was built. The best part for me was the convenience of walking (back then they also had a tram) to Epcot. Some of the views are beautiful and I found the lobby of the Dolphin and the outside architecture to be quite pretty. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. And keep in mind that for the most part you're going to be out enjoying the rest of the World. :)

Swan/Dolphin

I stayed at the Dolphin with my girlfriend and her three kids last year, for a week. If this is your first stay at WDW, you will be happy. Both hotels have everything you need and are a cut above the local hotels. In the morning, I would jog over to the boardwalk, where a bakery was open (5 min's). I would get a capa and donuts and jog back to the hotel. It was very refreshing. You can walk to EPCOT 10-15 min's or take a launch to MGM. Very convenient. Have fun. Jim.

Hi WigglyWiggins

I was booked in at PO but after Sept 11th Disney closed the hotel and our travel company changed our hotel to the Swan. :(

As your a fellow Brit I would be very interested to know what you think of the Swan when you return. Not that I don't trust our friends from the US but we do see things a little different from them sometimes.

Hope you had a fantastic time!

Cheers

your 15 so i was pretty much in the same boat as you are when i stayed there. I know how important the hotel is cause it just adds to the dinsey magic so don't let anyone tell you your wrong for caring! Anwyho it's a really nice place. Pools great and the position is perfect. It's not like you care how much the food is cause you won't be paying or at least I think your not :) The only time I ate at the hotel was for sushi and it wasn't bad. The hotel has many conferances there so it is geared toward adults but I didn't really pay attention to the golf shop and ladies fashion store. Trust me this place is really nice to stay at. Oh and here is an interesting fact that you really don't need to know but i will tell you anyways. The swan and dolphin (fish) statues on top of the buildings can be removed during a hurrican or tornado :) Have Fun!
