Good Snacks to Bring in WDW to Tour and Wait for Fantasmic!

Hello Everybody!

I have been thinking on what I should bring into the park to tour because I get hungry or thirsty in the parks but sometimes I like to save the extra 1.00 for a water on something more like a souvenirs. So I have been thinking:

"What are good snacks to put in your backpack to bring to WDW?"
Another question and comment I have is for Fantasmic!, the first time we saw Fantasmic! I didn't think about food and walked right in 90 mins to the show. I was cold and hungary but enjoyed the show, which was worth it. The next time I ate outside the theater in the Sunset Ranch Market, and then ate a little snack right before the show at the little snack stands in the theater. What I really was suprised was how small of a variety is on the stand's menu. So this time I go, I want to know what to bring in for dinner. Any suggestions.

So overall bring a big bottle of water and _____________ snacks. Help me fill in the blank. I'm driving to Port Orleans so I will have a refridgerator...

Thanks,
Escarabaja06

I like to bring granola bars and those Cheese and Cracker or Peanut Butter and Cracker packets.

They're both small, and fit easily in pockets. Additionally, both keep well under a variety of temperatures. They also make great snacks for standing in long lines.

How much you want to carry? You can pick up pre-packaged crackers and tuna fish (with mayo) as a pretty filling, non-perishable snack. Nutri-Grain bars are always good. For the kids, any of the various fruit snacks (fruit by the foot, rollups, etc.) also go over well. Those little bags of mini-oreos and chips ahoy are there also. Six-pack of those little donuts. Plain old fruit is always welcome too. Maybe those pre-made PB&J sandwiches w/o the crust. Little Debbie snacks.

Excuse me, time to go eat . . .

Eat a hearty breakfast before setting off to the park that will keep you going until you have a late lunch and hopefully you will be full enough to no longer have the need for additional snacking. Use the water fountains and if you really don't like the taste of the water bring some sachets of flavouring to add to the water. You can also get tap water on ice for free from the counter service places.

Personally speaking, I find all the wholesome snack bars un-fulfilling. They take out all the stuff that makes you feel full, which means you stuff more of them into you...hmmm. Probably why to do it to make you buy more.

I'm kind of uneasy lugging perishables around in the Florida heat.

I usually take a small ziplock bag of sugar-free hard candies and a small tin of sugar-free Altoid Smalls. I have also taken a small ziplock of dry-roasted peanuts(I keep the large 1pound jar at the resort:lol: ).

My Mom always buys those variety packs of chips ( that include Lays, Doritos, etc) and she packs those in her backpack. We use to bring oreos in a ziplock bag, but the creme filling melts quick in the hot Florida heat so they would become messy. Also, I would suggest buying one of those BIG bottles of water they sell that has the cap that you can pull up and down( I am forgetting what those are called, water bottle!?) and bring some Kool Aid packets to put in it. Nothing beats an ice cold kool aid when its burning up outside, that's filling enough for me :ROFLOL:

I always carry trail mix, granola or fruit bars, peanut butter & crackers or cheese & crackers. We usually buy water in the parks, but I bring those mix in sticks (crystal light, iced tea or propel) just for a change of pace.

Sports bottles! They cost more, but are worth it. I like the twist top Gatorade or Propel water bottles because the fit more comfortably to the mouth.

That's it! Sports Bottles, that completely escaped my mind! They are worth it, because you don't lose the lid * which I always do*

Peanuts, granola bars, mini single servings of apple sauce, mini rice cakes, pretzels, trail mix, etc.
I always carry either werthers caramels or nips, as they are something hard and sugary to suck on, but won't melt. Sometimes thats enough to hold me over.
Also, with all the salty snacks listed, make sure you drink enough too, as the salt will just dehydrate you even more.

They also make sugar packet sized packs of dried lemon flakes which is sometimes just enough to change the Florida taste without the added calories or sugar.

We're also fans of the Koolaid packs!

Also, Lipton (i think) makes cold tea bags, which brew in cold water. Add a pack of sugar and you're good to go.

I always make sure I have a bag or two of jerky with me if I m planning on being in a show queue for a long time.....builds up the salt levels again and makes you feel full fairly quickly

In October, my mom & I bought a container (half a pound) of grapes at the resort every morning & put them in a backpack for lat. They kept pretty well, they didn't get soggy or gross or anything. We would share them while waiting in line for a ride or while we watching one of the shows. They were enough to hold us over until we could get to eat lunch & they were refreshing because they would stay cool enough in the backpack.

I always take Pringles, cookies, chocolate and coke to the parks, so that I only have to pay for 1 meal on property. They're quick snacks, and they don't get easily smashed in my purse.

On the subject of waiting for Fantasmic, we used to get there early also and sit and wait. Ate hot dogs, etc. And waited.
Last time we just walked in about 15 minutes before showtime, took what seats were available, which were all the way over to the left, and enjoyed the show just as much.
At Fantasmic there really aren't any bad seats. You can see the whole show from anywhere. So we've decided not to spend so much time sitting there waiting.

:) :) :)

Slightly off-topic, but if you're going to bring in a store-bought bottle of water that you might intend to refill at water fountains, I recommend liter bottles of Aquafina. Larger mouth. Easier & a little more hygenic to refill

But there are some seats where you have a pole right in front of you, so if you're videotaping or trying to take any pictures, it can really spoil you fun.

But well.... I've never waited a long time at Fantasmic because of that.... ;)

Although my family and I tend to forget to pack the snacks we meant to bring, there are some really good ideas here.

Also, if you need just a little bit of sugar to pick you up in the afternoon, try packing a bag of marshmallows. They sell prepackaged ones at most grocery stores - they're fat free, and will give you that little bit of sugar you need. And they aren't too expensive. The cheese and crackers are good, though I've found that dairy of any kind (except ice cream) in the FLA heat makes for an unpleasant experience.

Cereals are also a good idea, either in ziploc baggies, or in the little boxes, just to munch on in the park. The cereal bars hold up pretty well too. Freezing juice boxes works really well, and they can double as an ice pack to keep your neck cool :p

Chocolate isn't the best idea because it will melt and get gooey, and then ooze all over the inside of the bag you were carrying it in.

Good luck, and have a great trip!

I recommend the Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bar - peanut butter flavor. It actually has peanut butter on it and has some protein and fiber, with not too much fat or calories.

We also make our own snack mix, with some or all of the following:
multi grain cheerios, marshmallows, almonds, raisins, dried cranberries, and maybe a few M&M's if it isn't too hot (when they would melt).
