Girly question: what to wear?

I know that sounds silly, but DH and I are going the first week of June, and I am very well aware of how hot it will be. My initial thought is to wear the same kind of stuff I would wear to a Zumba class or to go running: running shorts/skorts and a moisture-wicking tank top (especially during the day). I want to look cute and feminine, but I also don't want to be wearing anything that will broadcast to the world when I start sweating, especially since I'll probably want a zillion pictures. I do know that we will be eating dinner at DTD and probably staying out for drinks and such one night, so I'll dress accordingly for that, but that's not such an issue because we won't be outside in the heat for that time.

Anyways, I made the mistake of mentioning my game plan for my during-the-day wardrobe to my DH, and he looked disappointed, maybe even borderline offended... I don't want to disappoint him, but I also want to be comfortable and confident, and I think that I can probably make those kinds of outfits look a little better based on the way I combine things, making sure to wear makeup, etc.

Thoughts?

PS- go ahead, laugh at me... lol. I'm still ten days away from being able to look at FP+ bookings, and I'm chomping at the bit, so I'm planning as much else as I can in the meantime! Plus, if I need to add anything in particular to my wardrobe for the week, I need to budget for it and buy over time, so I figure it makes sense to start thinking about these things now.

Those are super cute! I think they might be a bit short on me though... I'm 5'2" with very muscular legs, so if shorts don't hit me at just the right length to where I can show that muscle, then I look like I have fat legs lol. I may go to my local JCP tomorrow and see if they have them or something similar. I just like my running skorts because they're feminine and flattering but they wick moisture so I stay comfortable.

We were there first week of June last yr. I wore mostly tanks/shorts and a few dresses. It was definitely hot/humid. We took a break each day to shower/freshen up and change. I would plan on multiple outfits for most days to be most comfortable. Have fun planning :)

This is the kind of skort I'm talking about... probably with a different top though. I also have two that are plain black.

Grumble... that should have said that I think they'd be long on me LOL. I'm a bit tired right now... ;)

Yeah, that's probably a good idea! I'm not sure how many of those days we'll be going back to the room to change, but I'll definitely bring lots of choices and plan to want to change just in case... I've already told DH that he can forget about me packing light (good thing we're not flying LOL)

Yeah... like I MEANT to say... probably too long on me haha

What is he wanting/expecting you to wear? LOL What are HIS plans for attire?

Hah! Exactly!!!

Not sure what he wants me to wear... probably wants me to dress up a little more because most of our vacations end up being to the Gatlinburg area, where the only time I dress like those pics is when we're hiking... but to me that's different because if you're going to an aquarium, or walking up and down the strip and going into shops, etc, you're not sweating as much as we will walking around the parks for hours.

As far as his plans, he said he'd probably be bringing every pair of shorts he owns (he was referring to his khaki shorts, of which he has three pair I think) and a wide variety of shirts. I think he's thinking he'll wear the same two or three things all week... I guess he'll learn the hard way!

So is what I'm planning to wear pretty normal, then? I just can't see getting dressed up to go sweat in the parks during the day! Night time might be a little different.

Personally, I wear sun dresses and the like when we head to WDW. They are light, breezy, and look better in pictures than sports wear, IMO.

What kind of shoes do you wear, then? Seems like most sandals would be uncomfortable or kind of a hassle to have to worry about on some of the rides... also, is wearing dresses on the rides an issue, as far as making sure not to flash people, etc ... sorry if that sounds dumb; it's been years since I have been so I can't think of the setup of the rides in terms of passenger positions lol.

ETA: If I'm going to do sun dresses, I need to start looking for those now... being a teacher, I don't have many of those because they tend to not be appropriate for work. I do agree that the dresses would look better in pics though!

Aww, I just have to say, you two are adorable!

I like that skort but I think you can totally pull off those cute sundresses. Go for those so you'll be cool and look great. I bet there are even tennis dresses that would work! (Sporty, moisture-wicking and cute!)

It's nice to be able to distract yourself from ADR planning by worrying about other things. (I'm currently spending my creativity on cake plans and creating "disney bounding" outfits for my kids :joyfull:.)

I wear a mix of TOMS and ballet flats, with some very nice ($50) dr. Scholl's inserts to keep my feet from falling off. Never had a problem with uh...wardrobe malfunction. :p you can always wear Sophie shirts under if you feel self conscious. :)

Hah! Thanks :) Those pics are from some hiking we did last summer. We love to get out and explore!

I'll definitely be looking for some sundresses... will just need to find the right ones.

And YES, it's great to have other things to keep me busy while I wait for the next round of planning to open up on MDE lol. Makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere. Cake plans would be awesome... I thought about that, since we're going down right after our anniversary, so this is somewhat of an anniversary trip (although it just worked out that way... that's not really why we're going that week lol). Disney bounding outfits for kids would be so much fun... but we don't have kids and DH rolled his eyes when I started looking into ideas for custom Disney shirts, so I guess that idea is on hold for now lol ;)

True about the shorts lol... definitely something to consider, but if you've never had that issue, then I'm sure it'd be fine.

I don't actually own any TOMS... ballet flats don't usually leave me feeling like I'm getting enough arch support. I almost think if I do dresses I might do better wearing Yellow Box flip flops, since those have held up well for me over the years and are super comfy... would they work on most of the rides?

Come to think of it, tennis shoes might not be ideal anyway if we get caught in a rain shower while at the parks and don't want to head back to the room lol.

If you like sporty type dresses, I highly recommend PrAna dresses. I have a few dresses from them, specifically the Amaya and the Quinn. I have had mine for years and they are not faded nor pilled. They are very comfortable in hot weather and they have a shelf bra.

I do wear flats and in the parks and I wear the Adina from Crocs. They are like sandals, but they have the shape of a flat.

I have a photo of me wearing them here:
