Gift Bags for first time WDW visitors - What to put in them?

We're going to WDW & Cruise with my in-laws this Summer ( brother & sister, and mother & father).

Since this is their first cruise, first trip to WDW, and first 'family' trip, we decided to get them a gift bag of stuff we think they'll like and need for the big trip, that they wouldn't have thought about..

We have the following, but does anyone else have ideas?

  • Motion Sickness Tablets
  • Those little Disney fan's (Bought at the Disney store)
  • Underwater camera (for the island)
  • Magic Towels (From the Disney Store. Yeah, they're very magical!)
  • Sun Tan Lotion
  • Ponchos
  • Fan-spray Bottles
  • Gum (for the long flight from PHX)
  • Playing Cards (Disney, of course!)
  • Crossword puzzle book. (Again for the flight.)

Any other ideas? Disney stuff is cool, but remember they're grown adults, and don't want to overload them with Disney right out of the gate.

Thanks!

Great list! But do you mean Sun Block? The Florida sun can be painful. Or maybe add both!

I would add the new Disney Magazine for Summer 2004. It's the special "Reader's Choice Awards" where they surveyed 100 fan favorites from WDW, DL, and The Walt Disney Studios. They can learn a lot from it. You can get it at any Barnes and Noble or Border's book store.

Have a MAGICAL time!

Also....

Maybe even add a journal. They can write in it every day with their thoughts and daily activities. I usually do this and like to read it from time to time to remind myself of my trips. It's great nostalgia.

Errr.. Good question.. We were going to go to Walmart next week to look them for them, too. Haven't purchased those yet. (Just assumed you could find them at WalMart.)

I'll here here in AZ.. Hopefully we'll have them!

I saw them at Target this past weekend for only $6.99, much cheaper than if you buy them at the parks.

They have them in WalMart, Target and even some of the "better" Dollar stores her in NY. (is there such a thing as a "better" Dollar store? )
We paid $14 for a spray/fan water bottle last summer...but we really needed it. Best to bring your own.

The only thing I would add to your list might be a pin of their favorite character or movie.

What about a packet of Disney gummies you can buy at a grocery store? They sell Princess, Mickey & Gang, Buzz Lightyear, Pooh Bear...

That might be a nice snack for on the plane!

Resusable water bottles might be cool. Fill em up at a bubbler instead of shelling out cash to buy water - what is it $3/bottle in the parks?

I know that where I'm from, "sun block" and "sun tan lotion" are used inter-changeably in common speech, despite the fact they are practically complete opposites. That's probably what was being referred to. Btw, I love your avatar. :)

Yeah, that's what I meant. I never even thought that they'd mean two different things. Sounds weird to say "Hand me the Sun block". ;)

Maybe it's because I live in Miami, I am constantly wearing one or the other. But I know when I want to get tanned, I wear "sun tan" lotion, or when I want to not burn I wear "sun block". LOL I never knew they can be used inter-changeably. But yeah, in your case since you're going on a cruise, definately add sun tan lotion to get some color. But then wear sun block when you're out at the park all day....gotta prevent those farmer tans! (And to maintain your nice tan from hanging out at those beaches!)

Thanks!! :animwink: It's a scan from the new Disney Magazine. They are my two favorites. Perfect for me. :)

Unless they have their own favorite ones, how about a hat or visor to protect their faces against the sun and heat? Great list overall and very thoughtful of you.

I don't go on any trip without a paperback book. If you know what they like to read or a favorite author you could pick up a new book.

CD? Heck, go whole hog! Buy them a portable DVD player, and a couple of Disney DVDs to watch during any down time!

OK, even when I WAS married, I wouldn't have done that for my in-laws. Of course, none of y'all have ever met my in-laws.

Going in line with the idea of a book, maybe a Disney guide, along with your idea of a good itinerary for them. After all, if it's their first time, what better gift is there than the "I don't want you wasting any more time on line than you have to" variety?

I'd toss in a lanyard and a few pins to get them hooked on pintrading. postcard stamps in case they have grandkids elsewhere that they might want to drop a note to. handgel-you know the antibacterial gel stuff, always handy to have on airplanes, themeparks etc.

have fun!
