Getting to WDW help!

I live in a crazy part of the country where there are NO direct flights to MCO (Orlando airport) anywhere close. I am willing to drive, but not too far, if the deal is good!
Does anyone have a great source for cheap airline tickets?
What about rental cars?
*sidenote--we do have an airport where I live but it is a regional airport that only flys to 2 locations, DFW and ATL. Pretty much any ticket from here is EXPENSIVE.

My sister is flying from the Branson, MO airport on Southwest next week. While she does have connecting flights her round trip price was around $325 (we booked about 60 days out). Southwest also has 2 checked bags free so that helped the expense. For rental cars, we have used Hotwire a couple of times and had great results.

I have looked at flying out of Branson. I saw they had a special a couple of months ago for Round Trip with Southwest to MCO for $197. Haven't seen it that low since.
There is an airport an hour and a half north of where I live that has an airline that flies to Sanford, FL and they are very cheap. In fact, they have a special going on now that you can get Round Trip for less than $130. But...they only fly certain days of the week, like Tuesday and Friday, which is not very helpful.

Psssh you have it easy ;)
Some of us have to boat and drive for hours or get (a disproportionately expensive flight) just to get to Gatwick as we don't have a direct air link to Heathrow anymore:mad:
And Manchester is 1 1/2 flight away :jawdrop:

Check out " Bravofly "..Direct flights from Guernsey to Orlando ( mco ) with British Airways..(£695) return..If this is wrong,then I'am sorry.it must be the drink..

I know it's not the best alternative, but if MegaBus goes through your area, maybe you could take it to a city with a major airport. I'm guessing Oklahoma City isn't an option? I feel your pain...when I lived in FL...I'd often be stuck driving hours to the closest major airports just so I could travel.

I usually have kayak send me fare updates, and I search a couple of the online travel websites like expedia. A 2 hour drive to an airport isn't that bad. I love in northern Wisconsin and I know people who drive to Milwaukee, a 4 to 5 hour drive, because they can fly out cheaper there than going to Minnespolis which is a little over an hour away.

How far are you from Oklahoma City or Little Rock?...seems Oklahoma City has the better prices. Either way, Fort Smith, Little Rock, or Oklahoma City, you pretty much have a layover in DFW or ATL. Does the amount of time it would take you to drive to the airport and all phases of your flight (layovers and flight time) take longer than driving the route to WDW? It could be more advantageous to drive than fly.

This happened to us on a recent trip to San Antonio. Counting airport arrival to arriving at our final destination, one-way, took approximately 16.5 hours. We could drive it in 18 hours; multiple drivers, and still have our car and not rent one.

Oklahoma City is a good 3 hours away. The person that I am traveling with is being a Diva of sorts. While I would not mind driving, since I have done it 5 of the 7 times I have been to Disney, she does not and she does not want to drive more than 2 hours to catch a flight. I might have to lay the law down with her. If only American Airlines had some decent prices, I would fly out of Fort Smith. It would be so much easier!
