It is well worth it. I enjoy Universal and IOA immensely.

You can take a cab for about $40-$45 each way.

You can take a Mears shuttle for about $20 round trip per person.

You can rent a car for a day for $35-$45.

A Cab and the Mears shuttle both pick up from your resort. On my last trip, the Mears shuttle was free with the purchase of a 2 park 1 day ticket. It was very convenient.

The cheapest way is to take the Lynx bus routes.
They stop at DTD and TTC on WDW property.

I believe the correct buses you'd want are 111 and then 08. Check on golynx.com

Next step up is either hiring a taxi or renting a car.

Do we have to make a reservation for the Mears Shuttle, or can we book it through our hotel when we get there?

Do u know if they have this all the time? We are doing a2 park 1 day ticket also!

They do! As far as I can tell, you have to book it through a travel agent. And I'm not just saying that because I am one!

The last time I tried calling the regular number to ask about it, they didn't know what I was talking about. But I can book it through the travel agent site, no problem. I've done it for several people. Let me know if I can help!

If you want the 1 day 2 park ticket it's a great deal!:)

What other universal ticketing options work for free transfer from mears ?

How much are these tickets ?

That's the only one that currently works. The 2 park one day tickets are $121.43 with tax. You will recieve a voucher for your tickets with a number to call and book your shuttle time.

They pick you up right from your Disney hotel.:)

I already purchased my tickets for one day 2 parks, would I still be eligible for the free shuttle???

Good question. I don't have any way to add the shuttle to tickets you've already bought, but Universal might. Call them and ask.

As I said before, I've found many Universal agents have never heard of this, so ask to speak to guest services and keep asking until you get someone who knows about these tickets. I would only trust an answer from someone who knows about them.

They are called "1 day park to park with free roundtrip transfers".

Good luck!!:)

We took a cab on Sunday 2/27/11. We asked the night before at bell services and they gave us a number to call to reserve one. It cost us $40 each way with tip. When we left, we just went to where they dropped us off and there were tons of cabs waiting. Get to the front gate of IOA early, at least an hour before the park opens. Buy tickets at the windows if you need them, then get in the line at the turnstyles.

Hi,

Hey there,

I have never done this route before - going from Disney to Universal. However, I am familiar with getting around down there so I hope this info helps. My DH and I stayed off property one year and flew into Orlando - since we did not have a car, we used Mears to get us from the resort to WDW. Although it was one of the cheaper options - less then half what it would be to take a cab, we were not impressed by Mears at all. They were not very forth coming with info on where to be picked up and when and it was a hassle having to run to be where they would pick us up at the end of the day. The cab, which we took a couple of times, was more pricey but it was more flexible.

When we traveled to Universal (bummer b/c it was before HP was open and hasn't changed much since I last went in 1998 - but i'm dying to see the new HP land!!!!) we went for a long weekend and with our tickets, we had a free shuttle option. We used it one day and then drove our own car the next day. I am not sure why we didn't use the free shuttle both days. We stayed at a resort that offered the free shuttle to Universal if you bought the tickets through the resort. We had purchased our tickets in advance but they still let us use the free shuttle.

On a side note to this, My sister and I shall be going to Universal on our next trip and before we have always had the parents to sort out tips but unfortunately they (and more importantly there money ) will not be with us, so what would people recommend as the average percentage to tip cab drivers?

We did the Mears shuttle from Disney to Seaworld and it was a huge mess. They give you a receipt and you call when you want to get picked up. There must have been 30 of us waiting at the same time when a 10 passenger van showed up. People were getting on, getting off.......... I don't know about everyone else but they finally put us in a cab (also Mears) and sent us back to our resort for no additional money. Fine with us. We didn't have to stop at any other resorts before ours.

Just want to let you know.....

I was at Islands of Adventure on Monday 4/4/11 and entry into Harry Potter was limited for most of the day. To get into the Harry Potter area, you had to wait in line at Sinbad and there you received an entry time for later in the day. The wait for Forbidden Journey was 120 min for most of the day.

We did go back about 1 1/2 hours to park close and there was no wait to get in the land and a 40 min posted wait for Forbidden Journey, but it was about 15 min. It takes at least 10-15 min to walk through the queue if you want to experience everything in the castle.
