getting sick from the food

I ate way too much MNSSHP candy once. That was a rough night...

I've never gotten sick after eating in one of the restaurants, though.

There is no way to tell causes from self diagnosis the cause of an illness. For most with food poisoning it is not from the last meal but an earlier one. There is no factual basis for saying "Eating [x] made me sick" without lab work on yourself and the food item in question as there are far too many variables.

I had an evening and day after ruined at the (new) very expensive Cali Grill last year.

Strange coincidence by the time I got to the car my expensive food and everything else wanted to leave my body and wasn't going to wait. A very bad time.

WDWs 3rd party legal company for food upsets (they actually have one) decided it wasn't their fault and basically said bad luck.

Sorry to laugh Martin but I just have this image of this nice couple getting out of their car all dressed up and elegant and looking forward to a nice dignified if pricey, romantic meal for two. As they stroll hand in hand enjoying their evening and walking towards the Cali Grill, out you stagger green around the gills before splattering vomit all over the parking lot, wiping your mouth on your sleeve and looking up, nodding in their direction and saying "Good evening" :hungover:

Funnily enough, that's not a million miles from it. I almost made the contemporary lobby restroom though.

Almost.

I've never gotten sick from eating at Disney World. There are times I've gotten sinus headaches or felt nauseous, but the sinus issues are probably from the heat and humidity. The nausea results from motion sickness I've experienced on rides.

My DH has gotten sick within about 2-3 hours after every time we've eaten at Tony's. He ends up leaving the park to return to the resort while the kids and I continue to Disney on. The first time we thought nothing of it. :) The second time we thought it was a coincidence.. The third time we were in denial that a restaurant could really be that bad and went for it again, :hungover: unsuccessfully. The fourth time, we were just plain stupid and gluttons for punishment. :banghead: :hungover:

We've been to the restaurant during all times of our normal 9-11 day vacations. It's not like it's from exhaustion, heat, etc. I'm still not convinced it's the restaurant  but we won't be returning just in case.

What we've seen...and not just at WDW...is there usually have to be multiple reports of food poisoning from patrons who dined at the same restaurant on or about the same time...who all required medical intervention/hospitalization...for the restaurant in question to be held responsible. ex. I had a friend who contracted salmonella and had to be hospitalized. He was one of something like 7 people who dined at this restaurant on the same date who became violently ill from their respective meals...which all happened to be the same chicken dish.

The combination of beer and schnitzel at Biergarten did me in 2 trips ago:grumpy:. Not food poisoning, just gluttony. 2 hours and 5 lbs later I felt great!

I don't know how someone could in fact 100% know or say if they got food poisoning without a sample of the food being send to a lab(Quality Assurance) which would tested for bacteria or Viral. I am by no means a Doctor but have been a Store Director for many Supermarket Chains and have dealt with " We got Food Poisoning from your....". If reported quickly enough we could take a sample from that specific item(Deli-Bakery-Meat) or a like item that may have been produced at the same time. In my 30 years in the business, 99% was NOT Food Poisoning or Food poisoning from our items.

Sample vacation: Sleep in hotel room and have contact with millions of germs in room alone-toilet, shower, bed, lights, tv controller, door handle. Then go to eat Breakfast- same scenario but maybe even got Food poisoning there, get to park and in breathing distance of thousands of people all day. Go to dinner and a few hours later feel ill. How does one say I got Food Poisoning from that dinner?

We all come in contact with nasty germs 24/7. It can be as simple as a hand shake with someone who is sick. Then you eat dinner and that night you are ill.

I am not saying this is the case for the OP but there could be a 1000 other reasons why they got sick.

This topic has been discussed at great length and some who got sick swear it could have been nothing else but the food and some who have medical backgrounds try to explain the likely hood of how the sickness happened, arguments ensue and thread lockage happens shortly after.

I've had meals that were obviously undercooked at Disney, but never got full blown food poisoning that incapacitated me for the rest of the trip. Sci-Fi was the only meal that sent me to make repeat visits to the chamber pot, but I was fine by morning.

One never really knows what goes on behind the scenes at a Disney Restaurant, but I'm pretty sure there are strict regulations in regards to food preperation and handling. My wife and I both got stomach cramps after eating grilled shrimp at a Disney restaurant, but we agreed that it could have been caused by a number of things ie. not being used to the Florida heat and humidity, over eating, or stress from walking for 10 straight hours on our first day at Disney. Personally, I think it was caused by going from 95 degree heat and 99 percent humidity to a cold 66 degree air conditioned resort room. We've slowed down after that first trip and eat less and havn't gotten sick since that trip.

I've never gotten sick from Disney food, I've eaten at the garden grill many times and had the stuffing with no issues. Ive also had food poisoning a couple of times and it was not any where near over after one night of being sick.

Your response makes me consider the following:
1. Disney's first ever villain was Queen Grimhilde, who tried to off Snow White with a poisoned apple.
2. One of the Magic Kingdom's newest quick service restaurants is themed to another prominent Disney Villain.
3. Said quick service restaurant's specialty is in fact....a frozen concoction made from apple juice.

Villains, apples, and unsuspecting tourists...

Not saying we should avoid Gaston's Tavern....but yeah I'm probably going to skip it unless either Jasmine or Elsa is on hand for immediate mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
